I have a little boy whose almost 11months old and I have been breastfeeding him from day 1. When he was around 7months old, milk production in my right breast totally stopped. I tried encouraging him to drink from the right side to increase the milk supply - but he totally refused!
So - almost 4months on - I have been successfully breastfeeding from my left side only. That's great, but now my right breast is an A cup and my left breast is a C cup
I have bought enhancers to place in my bra on the A cup side...so that is "covering the difference" for now.
So my 2 main concerns are:
1) Will this mean that the next baby wont be able to feed from my right side (the side that's not producing milk at the moment)???
2) And is there a chance that the 'little sister' (...a nickname my husband has given the smaller breast lol) will catch up to her big sister when we finish having children?
Any advice would be much appreciated!! And any tips on which bras are best to help keep the chicken fillets secure..and for my lopsidedness would also be great!
Hiya
I had the same issue, my rightie was a dud. Unfortunately it was the same with both my kids/breastfeeding journeys. They both agreed to take the RHS with the 'football' hold more readily than the cradle hold, then one day they told it to bugger off altogether. Rightie held out a little longer with my second kid but that's because I generally fed her more as she was more of a boobie baby and I was less routine-focussed. With both of them I fed exclusively from the LHS for at least the last 6 months of our journeys.
I didn't have quite the cup size disparity you have (my boobs didn't really get much bigger while BF so there was probably only 1 cup size difference between them, so I didn't bother boosting "little sister" (LOL, that's cute).
The good news is, now that I am no longer feeding my boobs are even stevens. (Inasmuch as they ever were... I think my LHS is naturally just a little bit bigger.)
HTH!
I don't have any answers really, but just wanted to let you know that I am in the same position!
DS stopped feeding from my right side at about 8 months....he is now 21 months and still feeding from my left side only! Yes, I too am very lop-sided - about the same as you, an A cup and a C cup! I'm hoping that they will even up when I finish having kids too!
I find that wearing the padded bonds bras helps to hide the difference a bit! I don't have the 'chicken fillets', although am considering trying them. I often use moulded nursing pads to even things up a bit (and they stay in place cos of the sticky bit). Going to the pool or beach is when I notice it more...
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!!
