Don't know about the no sugar thing but San Churros hot choc is beautiful! It's very rich though. Where are you? Not sure if they're everywhere yet?

Im not a coffee drinker.. never have been, but I love hot chocolate, so I've been thinking lately..
Passionate coffee drinkers get specialty coffee from stores, so why cant I with hot chocolate?
The cadbury hot chocolate just aint doing it for me anymore, it's too bland. So I'm on a hunt for some better hot chocolate.
So far I have ordered some from spain, some from the UK and some max brenner. I've been looking at chocolateirs, but alot dont sell their mixes. Preferably in australia would be best. And I'd love a 'not so sugary' one.
Does anybody have a favourite hot chocolate that isn't a regular store bought one? Or that has no sugar in it?![]()
TIA!

A local deli here in sleepy Brissie is my source of chocolatey love. They do the Fraus sachets, which are a nice easy one. They come in a billion different flavours, but it's hard to depart from the classic choc.
They also sell a Mexican hot chocolate, I can't remember the brand, as I've chucked away the packaging. It comes in blocks, and you boil it up with chilli and spices, traditional style. It's soooooo yummy.
I second San Churro though. We have some friends up here that get us to bring some back every time we go down to Melbs.

I have a gorgeous little retro milk pan that Ms Nelle gave me for my birthday that I use to make hot chocolate, I make it using whatever choc I have in the house and milk. I also add cinnamon for a mexican hot choc and if it's just for me I'll add a dash of cayenne as well.
As for types of chocolate, if you want REAL good hot chocolate go for a bitter sweet dark like 70% you'll be able to adjust the amount you need and won't have to worry about the sweetness.
Also don't forget good valrhona chocolate.
Have you tried the Lindt one from the supermarket? It's just chocolate flakes you stir into hot milk. Soooo good.
Thanks, I was looking at san churos yesterday, and they dont deliver here, so may have to go their personally
Oh and the lint one I bout a few weeks ago and made one drink, then when I went for another one, all the flakes were gone.. dh ate it all on me!
I just dicovered 'chocolate mill' yum. think i like that one!!![]()
Chocoholics Anonymous do a yummy hot choc mix. Only downfall was it took aaaagessss for delivery, but that's prolly just cause Perth is soooo far away lol
I second San Churros as well.

I bought the chocoholics anonymous ones and I still haven't finished it. I think it tastes terrible!
Where's the place in Brissy??
I make an awesome Nigella one, can't remember the exact recipe, but it goes something like this -
Milk
30ishg of dark choc
1tsp brown sugar
1tsp honey
cinnamon
Heat in a small saucepan on the stove, whisk when choc is melted. Take off the heat and add a few drops of vanilla and a splash of brandy
ETA Obviously you could withhold the sugar and honey if you don't like it so sweet. This hot choc is not for the faint-hearted LOL.
