    Ahh!! She's eating BEES!

Our backyard is FULL of bees at the moment! A mixure between a pollinating gum tree, lots of lavender and those yellow flowers all over the lawn.
And our dog, well when she sees one she grabs it with her paw and then quickly eats it like its a hot peice of chilli. She shakes her head around a bit and then goes to look for another bee!
Im so scared her throat is going to swell up!
I cant really tie her up on the decking all day, but it seems like the only solution atm. Her eyes are really bloodshot too.
AHH!! She just ate another one!

What???? I have no advice but hope they won't hurt her!

My dog chased this MASSIVE hornet / wasp / killer bee combo a few years ago. I have no idea what bug land it came from but it was big, black, shiny, had wings and a stinger on the back you only see on Nat Geo close ups! I was like a crazy lady freaking out in the back yard trying to shosh my (then) puppy away from it. He was running around yapping and chasing it.

My sisters little maltese poodle used to do that, but never caused him any harm- they must like the taste, they might be sweet like honey. Hopefully your dog won't have a reaction, although not sure if there's a limit to them being stung, hopefully someone can answer that.

I am pretty sure that, if she's not being stung directly, she won't be harmed. If she's swollowing them without the tail end sticking into her and the poision sac being injected into the skin via the stinger (sorry, poorly worded), I think she'll be fine.

My understanding is that bees have a little 'poision' sack at the base of their stinger (you can usually see the remains of it on the stinger when you have been stung). This poision is only injected into the victim by the force of the stinger ripping out of the bees backside...that actions pumps the poision through the stinger. The bee then of course dies because it's bum's been ripped out.

    Maybe they taste like honey?

    Youchies,
Maybe call a local vet and just ask them, what if one stings her throat? or she has a reaction? better to call someone if you're unsure.
    Goodluck with your little poochie
