FLEAS!!! Advice, Please, before im totally covered in bites!

We had to take our cat to the vets a week or so ago, she came home with an unwanted friend.....TEN THOUSAND FLEAS!

They are now all over the house and my legs and DDs are getting bitten to pieces, conservatively i must have 50 bites and ever one itches like hell!

We frount lined the cat and then cleaned every inch of the house, washed everything i could get in the machine, shook and hug everything else loose on the line. vacumed everything, couch, beds, every corner. But two days later they are just as bad as before!

Im not keen to flea bomb the house with DD and being pregnant, but i need to do something....and what the heck are ground fleas??? how do i know if i have them too?

    PLEASE HELP

5% of your flea problem is on your cat, the rest is in the cats environment. Was she at the vets very long? I think by the sounds of the outbreak you are having she didn't bring them home as such. I would say you have had a nest thats been laying dormant & its been the right weather for it too hatch out. You may need to frontline again, sooner then the once a month recommended dose. Keep doing everythign you have done, the vacuum, hanging things out int he sun etc, don't forget low traffic area's, under the couch, under beds, along the skirting boards etc. You should be able to ge ton top of it with out flea bombing but you will need to work hard at keeping up with vacuuming etc till you get it under control.

Oh my god! Nice timing with the post, my Dh is itching like crazy and going on about fleas but I haven't suffered at all. Tonight, I had a look at the cat and yup! We are in an apartment so our cat doesn't get outside and hasn't had fleas but we babysat a friend's outdoor cat last month so that is what I am putting it down to. Dh even saw one on him earlier... yuk!

Thanks for the advice Efjay, I'm going out tomorrow to buy a better vacuum cleaner!

Good luck beckoes, thanks for asking the question, and now I want to know what ground fleas are too! ..off to google...

    ETA: Erugh, ewww and Ugggh.

Not happy to read about fleas but I did find that ground fleas are just pretty much baby fleas.

We had a major outbreak a few years ago. The only thing that finally got rid of them was vaccing every day xoxoxo
