I've heard that this year it's particularly bad tick season... Whether that's true or not...
However, Thursday night DH plucked 2 ticks off one of our cats. Saturday morning (today) we plucked 4 off the same darn cat. Today's were small, but ticks nonetheless. Both our cats get them, sometimes the ticks are so well hidden that we don't know they have one til they're movement is affected
I suggested keeping the cats inside for a while, but dh said no, and it's my fault ( not my fault fault iykwim) coz I wanted to live in an area with bush...
What products are out there to keep ticks away, and do they work?
There's frontline etc tick spot which works for about a week - go see your vet and chat with them. There's no substitute for keeping the cats away from the bush (and seriously, I strongly believe in keeping cats away from native wildlife, so if possible keep them inside overnight at least) and they will adjust to being inside cats after a while. Even with frontline, you'll have to check them daily with a tick comb etc. You could also give them tick rinse, but cat skin is very sensitive, so I would definately chat with the vet.
