    Biting my nipples

My 6mth old DS got his first 2 teeth 2 weeks ago and I think there are more waiting to come through as he biting and chewing everything, has a fever and runny nose (this could also be a virus) anyway these past 2 days he has started biting my nipples when feeding, first couple times I instintivly pulled away, he cried, now I just say ouch, ouch, ouch, he still cries. He is leaving teeth marks on me! He has never been interested in taking a bottle, and takes a little water from his sippy cup.
He use to just roll the teat and push it out with his tounge, now he is biting the teat and then pulling it out with a pop (this is what he is doing to my nipple). He had a tounge tie corrected at 4 mth, don't know if this has any bearing. he doesn't like nipple shields either.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and what did you do?

    Thanks

I had the same problems with both daughters each time they were teething. It only lasted while they were teething and then they stopped again, thank goodness! But i would say 'NO' and then remove them from the breast and depending on their age at the time, i'd pop them down on the floor for a moment. I'd put them back on and if they did it again i'd do the same. Man it hurts when they stretch your nipple out with their teeth!

Make sure that he is really well supported when you feed him so that he can't put his weight behind his teeth. And try and put more nipple in his mouth if you can.
    Good luck!
