Wallpaper - pros and cons please!

So it's getting close to prestart for our new house, and I wanna have everything ready to go. Something I've seen a fair bit of in the display homes we've visited is wallpapered feature walls which, I've gotta say, I absolutely LOVE. We don't tend to have a lot of pictures hanging, so I love the way the wallpaper brings character into the room.

Having said that, I've never LIVED with wallpaper. Is it worth the hassle? How long does it last for? Is it gonna look crappy in a few years? Can it be washed like paint can if it gets artwork from little fingers in future?

Give me your likes and dislikes peoples, and help me make this decision!

My mum just had a wallpaper feature wall in her house done. the wall paper cost $175 a roll and she needed two for the wall so as she didnt want to wreck the paper spending so much so she paid a professional to put it up $150 and...he did a dodgie job!!! He is ment to come back and fix it.

It looks fantastic(from a distance) and there are so many beautiful designs out there. Ive already picked out what I want when we build a house one day and Im not scared of having it with little kids.

Go for it! There are amazing ones around and the 'new" wallpapers last much longer than the old ones! I guess it is just like a painted feature wall - if you hate it in 5-10 years time - you can always change it! We nearly did it here but all the rooms I wanted to do it in were too small!
