    Neds new haircut

I took Ned our 6month old standard poodle into the vets today for his first real clip, he has had his face, feet and bum done before but he was getting kinda shaggy and coming up to summer I booked him in for a full all over clip.

Never owning a poodle before when the lady asked what I wanted I just said short all over and no pom poms(DHs request) I was expecting him to come out like a shawn sheep

On returning to the vets to pick him up I was in the waiting room when in strutted another standard poodle, very proud with his long hair and top knot looking very fancy. I strike up a conversation with the owner about poodles blah blah saying I was waiting for mine...then out walked Ned im sure when he saw the other poodle his tail went further between his legs he was embarrassed!! its the worst haircut EVER!!!! its sooo short and patchy.

    He looks like a Doberman(sp?)

But he does feel cool, all velvety and soft.

When we got home DD1 got excited about the new dog and didnt understand it was Ned.

It will grow back fast wont it...I sure hope so, at least he has Esmae(our other dog) to snuggle up to tonight because its kind of cold.

Oh poor Ned / Morris the moo cow

It'll grow hun. My MIL has a standard poodle, and whenever he gets a haircut, he looks patchy too. It won't take long and Ned will be back to normal

I have a Standard Poodle and clip her myself, but if I were you, id find a professional dog groomer who is experienced in clipping poodles. Poor Neds coat shouldn't be all patchy. Groomers at vets are usually used to just shaving dogs off completely and aren't experienced in proper poodle grooming. When you take him in, just ask for the 'lamb clip'. Its usually just feet, face, tail, and a trim all over, and they shape the top not and tail Neds coat will grow back quickly and then you can get him fixed up at a place that knows how to clip a poodle.

Oh dear, poor Ned! I cracked up laughing at the Morris comment, your DD sounds adorable

I agree with MummaBear, it will grow back but definitely take him to someone experienced in clipping poodles, their fur is pretty different to most other long haired dogs. Hope you have the old Ned back soon

    Oh dear poor Ned.
Thank goodness their hair grows back. Hope Ned doesn't have any social functions coming up to avoid the embarrassment.

I was at the description of the other SP in the waiting room.
