    Wilton cake decorating equipment.

I am inspired by the lovely Christy to start cake decorating so I bought a Wilton decorating basics handbook from eBay.
My question is do you need their equipment or will any cake decorating supplies do ? Where is the best place to buy it from? I know the eBay store i got the book from sells all the Wilton gear but I have no idea whether it is reasonably priced or not.

Bakery sugar craft is good, it is of the M7 I think or you can get it over the internet. There is a good place in Campbeltown as well. Is more expensive but great with advice is Iced affair at camperdown and of course there is Spotlight which is great when they have their specials from time to time. I haven't bought much from ebay re cake equipment.

    Oooo! I love Wilton!
    Just joined the FB group!
Don't go to eBay, try Amazon. My christmas list is Thanks to the good $ value atm.
I'm getting the dessert stand which can be used in a variety of ways and the Wilton decorating set. I can't wait.
The cookie cutters are great as well.

I'm on my phone and I can't remember who posted re: suppliers in Sydney, but thanks! I'll have to check them out. I was also told of a supplier near Eastern Creek (is that the one you're referring to off the M7)?

I thought you could only buy books/CDs/DVDs from amazon (if youre outside the USA)? Have they changed their policy?

Ive always found wilton to be really good and worth the money.
Another good deco shop in Sydney is in Castle Hill called Cake Decorating Central.. depends where abouts you are.

Really? I've got to the checkout and the only item that I couldn't send to my Australian Postal address is a shower perch for my birdie. However, I've yet to process a payment - that's for Santa

I get most of my Wilton stuff from St Ives, The Red Pepper. I get all my colours and stuff, they are awesome and will order things in if you want. They also hire out cake tins!

I did a decorating demonstration there with Wilton & KitchenAid and it was so much fun. The girls there are lovely & they know me well . I go there to get my supplies when I run out. Now... if you want you can come over and play with me sometime *wiggles eyebrows* maybe during school holidays we can use wilton stuff and make gingerbread houses with the kidlets.....

What's the best cake decorating stuff to get to start off with? I've just gotten into the habit of a weekly baking thing, and it's not always cake, but I did my sister's engagement party one and I just have to improve!

Christy, you've got me hooked, hook, line and sinker with the mention of Wilton & Kitchen Aid in the one sentence

I'd rather bake than cook any day.

Jennifer, I think just learning about the basic buttercreams/royal icing/fondant etc etc.... then find what you work with best and what you like stylewise. I like to change things a bit. Remember that simple is sometimes better Seriously go to the Wilton site and watch a few of their videos and decorating and then I can translate some of the American for you

Posting pics??? hmmm, some people link their FB page. Or you could add them to your BB album - but I haven't done that and wouldn't know how.

I'm waiting on the next discount with Planet Cake to book a course... almost $400 for one day course. I just got my Planet Cake Cupcake book
