So for the past week and a half or so, DD has been totally dry of a night. Just all of a sudden, she's stopped waking with wet nappies. So she seems to have trained herself for night time too (she did the same with toilet training and all of a sudden at about 20mths decided she would wee on the toilet! Poo's on the other hand weren't so easy!).
My question is would you stop putting nappies on her now or give it another week or so and make sure it's not just a fluke! We don't have a sheet to put under her for night accidents, so maybe I should just wait til I get one of those...What else do you do? LOL, silly question, but I had no idea how to go about it and wasn't terribly worried about it really!
Plus I don't want her waking through the night again because of a wet bed and me having to change it all... We have only (in the last 4ish months) gotten her sleeping through the night most nights, and I'm up at least 2 times a night to DS, plus I'm pg, so I'm up about 2 times a night myself! Besides in 9 weeks we will have a new born in the house again, who if he sleeps as badly and feeds as much as his siblings will be up every 2 hours for the first 4 months at least...(eeeekkk!!!! When will I ever sleep?? )
if shes only just starting to sleep through, id leave her in a pull up for longer jic..
with DD1 we left her in a pull up for 2 weeks after she night trained, shes wet the bed a few times.. other wise grab your self one of those special sheet tp put on the bed, that way if she wets you just remove that and not have to change the whole bed
ETA when DD was night trained but still in pull ups we reused them a few times
I was the same when DS became dry at night and wasn't sure what to do. I think you need to take that leap and take the nappies off. It's all still a learning curve and I am sure she will still wet every now and then. DS is pretty good now and only wets when he hasn't been to the toilet immediately before going to bed or if he is really tired. The nights where I *think* he will wet I cheat and pop a nappy on him to save the stress. So maybe give that a go if you feel comfortable.
Well, I can tell you what I did with DS. I did day and night all at once. I had one of those removable pads like they have in the hospital, and I'd put that on top of his sheets. When he wet that, I had another pad to put on the bed so not sheet changing.
He had a wet night on night 1, although he did try and get out of bed each time. Night 2 he had a accident in the hallway and by night 3 we had a totally dry night.
He still has the occasional night accident and I don't expect him to stop that for a little while (I think we started TT 3 weeks ago and he's had #1's and #2's totally sorted out for 2 weeks.).
If I were you, I'd get some matress protectors/whizz pads for the bed, and then get rid of all nappies. This is what I did and it worked fantastically (mind you, my son was 3 years and 3 months when we trained him so he was pretty clued in pretty quickly). DS has not touched one single nappy and never wanted one since day 1 of TTing. Saved me a packet!
Good luck! I never thought TTing my son would be anywhere near as easy as it was... so hopefully it will be the same for your little one.

Well, we have done it. Since I wrote the original post, DD has been dry and out of nappies!! Not one accident (knock on wood!!). I have put a garbage bag cut in half on her bed, under a blanket and mattress protector. We go to the toilet before she goes to bed and I try to limit her fluids after about 6pm-ish. I can't believe she has been so easy to toilet train. She has practically done it all herself! I'm so proud of her, and she is SO proud of herself!!
DS on the other hand, is proving a little more difficult, lol!
Glad it has worked for her! My Ds (4) night trained around 3.5 BUT he has since taken a step backward and has now gone back to night pull ups. Sometimes he'll get up and wee, others he will wet his pull up. Just a heads up that she could possibly still have the odd period of accidents.
Thanks Freya. I have thought that maybe when bub comes she might revert back a bit, but hey, whatever, that's ok!! LOL, I'm not terribly worried if she does. I'm just so proud of her, lol! She hasn't actually gotten up to wee at all through the night so I'm not sure if she will know what to do if she does wake needing to go...I guess we will just have to wait and see! She's not scared of the dark, so I think she would be fine to do it, and we have a night light on for them too....ah well, as I said, I'm easy, so whatever!!
