    pooing in the bath

My 11month old baby has just started to poo in the bath. He loves his bath and lays down kicking about... then stops, pushes, pops and keeps going yukky!

I'd leave him in the bath longer but after the poo, obviously, it's straight out which sets off a crying jag brh.

What can i do to try to stop this??? He seems to do it even if he's just done a poo in his nappy!

My DS did this for about 6 months until just before his 2nd birthday. We just had to ride it out and wait until he decided not to do it anymore. We also started giving him showers instead because it was a bit easier. He still pooed in the shower too We didn't come up with any fool proof strategies for getting him to stop, he just did. It's not much fun having poo in the bath, having to stop a lovely bath time and then having to clean it all up once it is over (not to mention the toys) but it is a stage and it passes.

Yep, although it's gross it's totally normal! My DS started doing it a couple of months ago and while I can see he's about to go, there's nothing I can do about it. It is a pain cleaning all the toys etc so I hope he grows out of it soon!

Sorry not sure! Just had to add that our 21mth old announced to us yesterday that she had done a poo in the spa, checked her pants to make sure she was telling the truth and yep POOP everywhere!!!

I have never seen DH get out of a spa SO FAST poo particles everywhere!!!!!!!!!

DD used to do this all the time....my DH decided that the bath was too hot, i think having a cooler bath helped!! otherwise we would sit by the bath waiting for the poo face and whip her out for the loo! good luck

That's prefectly normal. My son did the same thing. The moment I stopped reacting to it, he slowly started to grow out of the habit. It's just a phase.

Its my boys favourite trick at the moment! I like the idea of cooling the bath down a bit, i might give that a try. DD and DS bath together and she screams and carries on like its going to kill her or something!

Would wearing a cloth swim nappy help? IF there is only one poo per bath the pants would contain it and then once it had happened, you could take the pants off and finish the bath. maybe...

Oooo I am with you Grub! I can imagine that would be horrible! Made even worse that the poor little man doesn't want to get out yet and doesn't understand why his fun time is over!! My DS has never poo'd in the bath (touch wood) but I always fear it! Hope it ends soon for you! (And that my boy never starts haha!)
