Feeling a bit nervous now- advice please!!!

OK, so I am 33 1/2 weeks pregnant. I have had a couple of quite strong braxton hicks today but didn't think too much of it as bubs is moving quite a lot and they weren't regular.
But I just noticed a stain on my bedsheet. Right where my who har would be when I was sleeping.(I don't wear PJ's) It's not really big and smells kinda sweet (sorry- TMI) I'm worried that I leaked some fluid during the night, I haven't noticed any dampness particularly today, I have just put on a pad and I will keep it on and see if it gets damp.

Do you think this is something I should be worried about? I know I'm supposed to call the hospital if I notice fluid leaking as I'm too early but I don't really know what the stain is. I don't want to panic everyone for nothing. As I said- bubs has been moving round heaps today

Could it just be a whole lot of discharge? Did it soak through? Keep an eye on it. If you're worried, give the hospy a call but I think they'll just tell you to keep an eye on it....

It is very normal to have increased discharge later in pregnancy. If in doubt, go into the hospital and get checked out, they will do an internal to see if your waters have broken.

    Hi Glenny,

If you're worried go get checked out - that's what our obs and midwives are there for and its FAR better to go and get checked out and be told there's nothing to worry about than not going to get checked out when you should have.

If you haven't felt particularly damp today I would think you've probably just had a lot of discharge overnight or even a teeny bladder leak (sorry!).

Still, if you're worried, go get checked

I'd give the midwives a call. You are clearly worried enough about it to post on here so I think it's best to see what the professionals have to say. Personally, I have some days where I go through panty liners like they're going out of fashion and other days are quite dry, but I sleep in undies so I don't know if I ever would have had enough to leak onto the sheet. Give them a call, you'll feel better after having spoken to somebody I think

Thanks girls- I'm a bit more relaxed now, I think I just panicked when I first saw it. I haven't noticed anything else all day so I'll just keep my eye on it and see what happens.
Increased discharge- yet another lovely thing that takes you by surprise in pregnancy! ;-)
DH said maybe I had a naughty dream last night. he he

Thanks again- so nice to have somewhere I can run to when something unexpected happens.

I agree with the others, it's probably nothing, but put your mind at ease and get it checked.

If you head to the maternity ward, they are able to give you a quick, special kind of vaginal swab (which is just like a cotton ear bud) that turns blue in a matter of seconds at the presence of any amnoitic fluid or abnormal discharge. Good luck!

My bet is on discharge too. It does have a different smell during pregnancy.

Apparently amniotic fluid smells like the ocean, according to my DH.
