How much sleep does your 3 yr old get??

Just wondering on average how much sleep your 3 yr old is getting? Are they still having a day time nap? How long are they sleeping overnight?

DD is sleeping for approx 2 hours during the day (usually 1pm to 3pm) and between 9 and 11 hours at night (bedtime between 7:30 and 9pm depending on whats going on and up again at around 6-6:30am)and i am wondering if this is ok, or should i be encouraging no day time sleep and sticking to bedtime rather than letting her have an extra hour or so up to spend with DF when he gets home.

Thats about what DS had at 3. one day sleep. some days but not all, of about 1.5 hours, and 10ish on average at night.
He occasioanlly will have 11 hours, rarely more than that, he is normally up by 630

DD1 is 4 now, and since she turned 2 she's had no day sleep and sleeps approx 12 hours overnight.
DD2 is 2.5 and sleeps 3-4 hours during the day, and 12 overnight.

Izzy is 3.5 and has 1.5-2 hour day sleep, without it she gets horribly tired cranky and its no good for anyone so there is no way we are cutting it yet. She also doesn't sleep any longer at night without it and sleeps from around 7:30-8 until around 7 most mornings.

Wow, Tan you're a lucky chicky!! LOL

My dd will sometimes sleep for 1-2 hrs in the day, though not every day (maybe 4-5/7) and goes to bed at 8pm, up at 6/6.30am. If she doesn't sleep in the day, sometimes we push wake up time to 7am, though it's usually still up at the crack of dawn with the bloody birds!

Mostly no day sleep - if there is, it's late afternoon for about 3 hours and he doesn't get back to sleep till 9pmish.

    Usually about 12 hours overnight.

    You are very lucky Tan!!

Dd rarely sleeps during the day, only if she is sick or very worn out. She goes to bed at 7.30 and normally gets up about 7.30, she may wake up wake up earlier but she knows to wait until it's light to get up.

My nearly 3yo DD either has a day nap of 1-2hrs, and then will be awake until at least 9.30pm, and sleep about 9 hours overnight.
Or if i stretch her out without the nap she will be asleep by 7.30, and up at 6.30ish- so 11 hours.

The day naps are killing me though, as some nights its close to 10.30 when she'll get to sleep, yet I let her have a day nap because she's absolutely desperate for one.. And to stretch her to 7pm without a nap can be torture for us both!

my DD has about 2-3 hours in the middle of the day then goes to bed about 7.30 and is up at about 6 -6.30
As for letting her stay up with DH... do what works fro your family, there is no right or wrong answer there!

My DD has just turned 4, but has had maybe 10 day sleeps in the past year? She goes to bed around 7pm and wakes up around 7am. If she has a day sleep, she is up until at least 9pm, but if she falls asleep at 9pm she is generally up earlier Annoying!

My almost 2.5yr old sleeps on average about 11hrs over night generally. When he has a day sleep it's usually 2 to 3hrs. He doesn't have a day sleep everyday, even though I wish he would. It would be so much better attitude, whinging, etc wise if he did have a day sleep every day.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the responses

It looks like this an age where it is pretty varied, so i guess we will stick to what is working for us at the moment. I think i just felt a bit bad that poor DD walked around with big black circles under her eyes today and wondered if she was getting enough sleep. I think i might reel back the 9pm bedtimes, these are usually the nights DF puts her to bed, eg. when i go to the gym or want to watch a show on tv and insist that he get her in there a lot earlier as we know it will take her longer than usual to go to sleep.

DD hasnt had a day sleep since she was probably 2.5 and even then it was a struggle. She goes to bed at 730 and sleeps till 630, doesnt matter what time she goes to bed. If she happens to fall asleep during the day she refuses to go to sleep until about 10pm.
