My son is 2, and the food he eats is very limited.
He wont eat fresh fruit or veges. he'll only eat the 6month old puree'd food.
He'll eat 2 min noodles, sandwiches, toast, chips and nuggets and mince with gravey occasionally.
He has sensory issues, so if he doesn't like the feel he wont touch it let alone eat it, and wont let me do it for him.
So i'm giving my 2 year old baby food puree'd just so i know he's getting veges (only pumpkin potato and beef). he gags on anything chunkier.
I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do if he wont even try anything
Hey Nicole, welcome to BB, hope you can find some support here. We do have a sensory chatter thread too that you might find some help in.
Have you been to see a dietician? Your GP can refer you and I think that would be a good place to start.
I have a fussy 2ish yo but not with special needs so I don't think my strategies would be of much use.
Yup - my boy is like that too. He likes rice and pasta though and I can hide a lot of veggies in there!
My advice is not to stress too much - but just keep trying and encouraging him to try different things. Once they become familliar (even if he's not eating them - but just looking, seeing, touching them) he might give them a try. That's out plan anyhow - but I don't quite know what you mean by the 'sensory issues'
My DS1 is 28 months and wont eat fruit unless puree, vegies he will only eat if hidden well eg grated carrot in bolognaise sauce etc.
Things he eats are sandwich, yougurt, chicken nuggets/schitzel etc, roast chook, saucy things in slow cooker (beef stroganoff, sausage casserole), chips, cheese. Hmm cant think clearly currently.
He has been asking for DS2 food when I am feeding him (10 months old) so tonight I heated up 2 tins of alphabolognaise and he ate the whole thing in 2 mins flat!!!!!! He generally eats a bit of dinner and says no more and pushes plate away.
My son is nearly 11 and has never eaten a peice of fruit, only eats chicken or fish and limited vegies but only cooked he doesnt eat salads of any sort, he has only now started eating pasta. He has always had a multivitamin. his diet isnt very interesting but he is happy and healthy.
Im sorry I dont have any helpful advice but just wanted you to know that your not alone
Meal times were always a battle but since I gave up the fight a few years ago its been alot less stressful. I figure maybe he will like regular foods one day
welcome to BB
Nicole, I can empathise with you as my 2 1/2 yr old is the same but he will not eat the pureed food even home made like he used to love to eat... would love to know how you are going with him and if you could give me any tips lol
