Can anyone tell me any information they have on PCOS after weaning? I haven't breastfed for a week now, and my face has completely broken out, it's terrible () and (TMI) I got my period (at least I did I guess!) and it is unusually heavy and I am passing quite large clots too. As in, (WAAAAAAAAAAAAY TMI) so large they barely fit in my menstrual cup. Friday I was filling two or three cups a day, which is unusual for me.
I was only feeding once a day, but this seems to be a really dramatic difference. Is this a normal reaction after weaning? Does breastfeeding even have an effect on PCOS? I had really large cysts in the beginning of last year, so I didn't think it made a difference? I was diagnosed with PCOS only 9 months before falling pregnant with Jazz, and 4 of those months we were TTC and the other 5 I was put on the pill by my FS to regulate my cycles. So I've never really 'lived' with it (even though I have, but didn't know it KWIM).
Or maybe this is just a normal reaction when you wean, and has nothing to do with the PCOS? I dunno
ETA: I got my period back about 8 weeks after she was born, and have been coming (albeit irregularly, as per usual for me), so it's not my first period post baby! They have been coming anywhere between 30 and 70 days since she was 8 weeks old (minus the 4 months where I had cysts growing).

Is it your first period post baby? If it is, it may be that your periods have just changed OR it's a once off. My periods have changed flow rate post baby and it's quite common apparently. I also break out mega horrid when AF is due.
Was typing as you replied! I got my period back about 8 weeks after she was born, and have been coming (albeit irregularly, as per usual for me), so it's not my first period post baby! Could be PCOS related. Mine are generally irregular and vary in flow. The other thing may be hormones fluctuating post weaning and your body is sorting them out again. Maybe someone with a bit more BFing experience and periods could shed some more light.
Sounds a bit unusual. Never heard of this with PCOS
The first cycles post-baby can extra heavy, but this isn't the first.... You don't have endometriosis do you?
I don't know either Leash, but I know that mine have been INSANE since returning post Elijah. I'm still BFing though. I hope it was just a one off thing. Oh and love the new name and congrats on how long you BF Jazzy for too!!!
