:yeahthat: They also do the Markets, not sure where in Melb you are, but the Mornington Market is on this sunday, and they are always there.

Just thought I would add that alot of the places don't recommend that you get them done when bubs is still so young, as they don't really have a fingerprint yet, and it just ends up looking like a blob. I know they cost quite a bit, so just thought I would mention it as something to think about. I want to get a keyring of DD, but I am still waiting til she is a bit older.

I'd never heard of this before. What a great idea! Do you know at what age they can do fingerprints?

I've just done this a couple of days ago and will be getting the jewelery back next week.... Hope DH doesn't see this post as it's a surprise for our wedding anniversary! I ended up using clay-time (dot com dot au) as I was really unhappy with smallprint I drove 45mins each way to see the lady when DS was 8 weeks old as she told me she could do what I wanted and when I got there she said she couldn't! No apology from her either grrrr anyway the lady from clay-time has been really great plus cheaper woohoo They also recommend 4 months but when I originally saw the small print lady she showed me a pendant with a 10 week old's print on it and it still looked good. So I took DS's at 10 weeks and whilst I couldn't 'see' his print in the clay I think the pendants I am getting will still be cute as it'll still be an impression of his little finger kwim anyway I'll let you know what they end up looking like next week if you like

I got DS's done for DH the Christmas before last. He was 18mo at the time. Smallprint was great but they are different franchisees so keep that in mind. I was going to suggest it for his first Father's Day present

I got a charm done of DS's thumb for DP when he was 1 year old from precious charms. They were excellent with their service and it turned out beautifully.

Hi Loula. I got my fingerprint pendants back today and I LOVE them as I said they were taken at 10 weeks and I think they look great. Obviously there isn't the 'clearest' fingerprint like an adult would have but there are lines on it and you can tell that it's a finger print kwim. I was going to be happy with the indentation of his little finger tip anyway so I think at 3 month olds the prints would turn out really clear.

Claytime did send a kit. From what I found smallprint was the only one who took the print directly. I thought that was pretty cool which is why I was going to go through them but I as I said I was annoyed with the local rep as I drove so far and she couldn't engrave what she had told me she could in an email so I was almost going to give up on the idea. I then did some more google searching and found these guys who were also cheaper and thought it didn't really matter that the print is taken from a mold. The selling point from smallprint is that your child actually touched the jewelery but hey I'll get DS to put his finger in the fingerprint pendant I have now and it'll still feel like he's touched it kwim Anyway if someone else comes across this thread they will know that 10 week old prints do turn out looking good and cute I'm sure you'll love yours when you get it done.
