    Grrrrrrr

I dont claim to be the best parent in the world BUT.....

This makes me FUME and Ive seen it maybe 3 or 4 times in the last few months. Heres how it goes. This is one occassion DH just told me about.

    Waitress: Is that car yours?
    DH: No.
Waitress: Oh ok there is a baby inside and its crying
    DH: Call the Police.

DH goes out to have a look. The windows are down to 'cool' the car. The Waitress comes out while on the phone and across the road comes a lady.

Lady: Oh this is my car, sorry.

She opens the car, gets the pram out, gets the baby out and goes back to what she was doing.

She was getting her nails done!!!! She left her baby in the car to get her nails done then took a baby a few months old back into the salon with her. AGRH I want to shake her and scream WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!

I only wish that they still had the police come and see her in this salon and have a good talk to her.

    Makes me so mad!!

I went to the post office today, popped out and checked the mail. I can basically touch the car from the box when I pull up so I leave DS in the car. I had a package today, and I was going to leave DS in the car, running, while I ducked in to get it (even inside the post office I'm no further than 2m from the car, and the whole front is window), but I couldnt do it. I had to get him out. It just feels so wrong straying away from the car with him in it. I dont know how people can do that... and while she was getting her nails done? Jezuz. It's not like it's a 2 second thing!

I know what you mean Helle, I take DD in with me when I pay for fuel..... even when I'm the only person there! She's not impressed usually being taken out and being put back into the car seat in such a short space of time! I just can't leave her.

SummerSue - yep! I also take BOTH of my kiddies into the petrol station to pay for my fuel. Big pain in the butt, but I would never leave them in a hot car

Well beyond what anybodys personall opinion of this is.. Its illegal to leave your kids in the car
    ILLEGAL
    why? Because its ABUSE
have you ever gotten into your car after being out of it for even 10 minutes.. its like an oven..
if you leave your kids in your car you may as well have put them in a hot oven.
If you ever see that again. Get the no. plate, ring the cops, report it.. I think id even try to get the baby out myself. They can die!
Id also punch that stupid *****. of course you would take your kids out when just paying for petrol.. Any parent shouldnt even have to think about that one longer then a second, its not rocket science
I have no on the fence opinion about this.

Actually, I leave my kids in the car when paying for petrol. Trying to control 4 kids at a busy servo is dangerous & I'd rather leave them in the car with windows down for a minute then risk one of them getting run over.

I will NOT leave them for any other reason though. Especially not a baby! Thats nasty & makes me feel sick knowing she could do that

I leave arch in the car at the petrol station, but only when I can see him all the time through the window.

I cannot believe a mum would leave her baby in the car while she gets her nails done!!! The waitress should still have called the police so they could have educated this silly woman

There was a thread a while ago about the actual legality of leaving kids in the car and someone wrote to the police om their state and asked. I think they said it wasn't exactly illegal if the windows were down and the child wasn't in distress but it's a grey area. Will have to dig it up to confirm tho.
My personal opinion is I think for petrol it's ok...getting your nails done not ok!

Pretty sure there have been other threads saying that you can leave them at the petrol station? I leave mine for the reason a PP mentioned, that the time it takes and danger of getting them out to pay far outweighs leaving them in there with all windows open on a hot day for a few minutes. My choice but as for getting nails done, WTF? People just don't think at all.

thats why i usually ask dh to fill cars up as i cant leave by babies in the car at all... even getting them into the car when the car is warm i freak at tad.... i usually start the engine turn a/c on go back inside grab the toddler and baby then get in when car is cooling down. So yeah im with everyone leaving a baby in car with window down is not only stupid it is dangerous.... baby can die easily with heat and/or someone could grab the kid and run (i bet that mum didnt think of that one) ..... some women/men dont deserve children when theyre so damn flippen with them
