    Lincoln or Rafferty?

Hello lovely ladies (especially those who have so far helped us with name choices!!)

So we think we've finally narrowed our choice down to Lincoln or Rafferty if we have a boy (in 3 weeks). Can you please give your honest opinions, and pick which name you like best if you had to choose one?

NB. We're aware of the Rafferty's baby food thing, but it doesn't bother us. We have a DS, Felix, but we're not too bothered about the whole matching sibset thing, so long as we like the name best on it's own! Our surname begins with Ch, two syllables and the middle name will be John after my late father.

    Thanking you!!

I think Rafferty goes better with the middle name.

Rafferty John sounds cool! TBH, I didn't like it when I saw your first thread but it has really grown on me. I think Raff and Raffy are very cute nicknames. I wouldn't worry about the baby food brand, I had never heard of it. I do remember a show from the 80's called Rafferty's Rules (oh, I am old!) but that is not a negative association anyway.

    Good luck!

I prefer Rafferty. I think it can go through each stage of life a lot better. You know from being a cute baby/toddler, to a cool teenager to an adult.

Lincoln John is very cool, Lincoln was one of our top names and my husbands father whom passed away 4 years ago was John, but we have changed now, to Noah, but thinking it's too popular at the moment, 6 weeks to decide! Good Luck to you

Thank you ladies, it's really helpful to get your perspective (and encouraging that Rafferty is not completely blown out of the water when suggested to most of you). I think the negative feedback we've received on Rafferty from family and friends has influenced me, try though I did to not be influenced!

Lincoln feels 'safer' as a name, whereas Rafferty is really exciting as a name to us both - particularly if the kid grows up to be outgoing and creative, then he'd really suit the name. But of course, we won't get a sense of that for many more years - argghh, it's so hard to choose boy's names!!
