Hi all, my 22mth old DD has started projecting and I'm just wanting to know if this is a sort of normal behaviour or not??
By projecting I mean she projects behaviours that she is doing onto someone or something else.
Not bad behaviour, like if she pushes or hits another child she doesn't try and tell me someone else did it... But usually when she is upset or in pain.
Today I was trying to get her into the car seat and she arched her back as I was doing up the straps and started crying, then she said "Anda crying mummy!" Anda is what she calls her brother, who was strapped into his car seat next to her.
Then on the way home, she kept telling me "Miffy ow mummy, Miffy ow". Miffy is her little soft rabbit that she sleeps with, who was in the car with us. DD has really nasty nappy rash and we had just changed her nappy and I'd asked her if her bottom was ow, she said yes then on the way home is telling me it is Miffy that is ow.
She said Miffy was crying the other day too, when I'd just told her off about something and she got upset, but then said "Miffy crying, Miffy crying!"
Sorry OP, I don't know. I'm sure it's not unusual in the realm of toddler behaviour, though.
I would probably bring it back to her, though, so she knows you know. Like if she said her brother was crying, I'd say, no he's ok. I can see that you're sad though.
I don't know. I hope someone has a better idea though
