DD used to be a once every 5-7 days girl. Since starting solids though, that has increased slightly. She goes at least once a day now, usually twice.
Today we have had 7 massive nappies, she now has a really sore bottom to the point that some of the skin has broken down (tiny bits - not a huge amount) and the last nappy change she screamed the house down and is now in the sling because she was so unsettled.
I have no idea what might have caused this today - we had macaroni cheese for dinner last night, I haven been super healthy the past wee while so I don't think it can be anything that has gone through my breast milk. She's so unsettled, which is really unlike her and even being in the sling it took her a while to calm down. She's asleep in there now, on me as I type.
I wonder if she's had a sore tummy which may also have contributed to her sleep issues the past few days? She may also be getting her top teeth through. Who knows. I just wish she could tell me.
I'm just clueless. I feel really helpless and my confidence is a bit shattered.
I'm not sure what it is hon but it does sound like an upset tummy - could be from teething, solids or just a bug. Has she tried something new to eat in the past 24 hours? Have you got some cream you can put on her nappy rash too - that is so painful for them and particularly so when they keep on poopin! We use Sudocream most of the time and it works wonders. We also use PawPaw cream every now and then.
Some people (mainly GPs) say that teething doesn't effect their poo but I think all us "mum's in the know" would beg to differ! When DD was cutting her top front teeth her poos were horribe and yes, there were a lot more of them! So it could be your DD's teeth coming through
Having her in the sling sounds like a great idea Maybe try some Panadol if she seems unwell. We use Hylands Teething Tablets on our DD (she wears an amber necklace a lot too) and they seem to work really well. They're all natural and well priced. Most pharmacies sell them now.
I hope she's better soon hon. Keep her fluids up and she will be feeing a little dehydrated after so many poos.
Thanks hun, I do wonder about her teeth. But she's also just gone and vomited
DH has come home saying he has a dodgy tummy too - I wonder if she has a bug? Poor wee sausage!
Oh no, poor little bubba. I hope she is feeling better really soon darl
I totally agree on the whole teething = lots of yucky poop's and whingy and much more clingy then usual , all three of my boys have been like this...R is doing exactly that right now and it's definately teething related. Teething is the pits isn't it.
Don't doubt yourself hun, your doing everything you can....your a fantastic Mummy
Oh no! Poor gorgeous thing I was going to say teeth for sure, but now with vomiting and your DH i think its more likely to be a bug. I hope she is feeling better soon and you don't catch it in the mean time!
How is she now MummaSue? Did the vomiting go away and nappy rash clear up?
So far every single time that my little man has been teething he has suffered from awful nappy rash and screams and almost writhes when you try to clean his bum. I am sure the wipes must sting the raw skin. I simply tried using a few old face clothes and washing bottom each time it was really raw rather than using the wipes but making sure I dried his bum properly before putting nappy back on of course! We've also used paw paw cream as well as a barrier cream to help clean it up. We are going through this at the moment as his molars are coming through and little chaps bum looks like it is on fire at the moment its so enflamed! As Taurean said its bulldust to say that teething doesn't cause nappy rash!
If it is teething couple of things you can use. Brauers make a natural teething remedy which can be used along with either panadol or neurofen. Sold in most chemists. Amber teething necklaces also seem to help and are damm cute too. We got ours from Amber Bebe and they can be ordered on line. I'd be careful and check before using Hylands Teething tablets as they've been recalled in US in the last few weeks. Taurean sorry haven't got round to posting in our thread recently where I was going to mention it.
