When did you get blood tests to confirm your pregnancy?

with my last pregnancy I found out at 5 weeks but couldn't get into a gp until 12 weeks because I was a NEW patient and we had moved..... So I never got a b/t until I started to miscarry, so I'm wondering....

This time, obviously I have taken numerous pregnancy tests but when should i book my appt for a blood test ? At how many weeks? And when is the best time for a dating scan ( for EDD ) although I'm pretty sure....

i never had a blood test - my gp and ob both said the hpt was enuff for them....having said that, my dating scan wasn't set until i was 8 weeks...longest 8 weeks of my life!!

Are dating scans the norm if you know your dates? Out of all my pregnancies I've only ever had them if I didn't know the dates, which has only been 3 times.

I had to have a few scans and blood tests as they thought bub was ectopic... I would not have had a dating scan if that had not have been the case(bad cramping)

Had my bloods taken at....ermmm, I THINK it was like 5w5d, just because I wanted to make sure they were rising. They were sooo high, 38,000! So had a scan to make sure there was 1 at 6w5d. Measured spot on dates then and still spot on dates at the last scan, definately know when we concieved?

I had my bloods done at 4w3d. I had my scan at 6w1d (we didn't do that for dating though as it was IVF, we just wanted to make sure the embryo had implanted where it should have).

The best time for a dating scan is around the 7 week mark.

The only time I've had BT's and scans (other than the 3 dating scans) was because something was wrong.

usually just give the GP my pee and then I get the referral to the OB...I hate the part where you walk out of the dr's room and down the hall to the loo then have to carry the little pot of pee back to his room I'm always worried someone will run into me and I'll end up covered in it.

Have never had a blood pregnancy test or a dating scan. The doctors have alway just taken my word that I was pregnant and given me a referral for the 12week NT scan and I get all my other bloodwork done at the same time as the NT bloods.

Thanks ladies ... I just want reassure like PZ said, I don't need to know exactly when I conceived lol I'm married

But I'm nervous and don't want a missed miscarriage like before... They did my bloods before at 11 weeks and it came back at like 5080 so not good, and I guess I could have found out sooner if I'd had a blood test before

now is a good time to measure your HCG levels, you just need to have a few blood tests in a row (every 2-3 day) to see if they double, I had 3 all up. Then at 7 weeks I had a scan to see if baby was ok due to m/c before. Goodluck hope all works out well for you xxx

also you can ask the gp to check your progesterone levels too. When miscarried my progesterone was very low, however with my other 3 pregnancies it has been a good level. Well this one is just borderline, we are hoping all ok.

I got a BT at 11DPO to confirm. And i only had the dating scan when they had to make sure the baby was in my uterus. I had bad cramping and they thought the pregnancy was ectopic

I'm getting a blood test today as I need to go to the dr for my cough anyway.....

So hopefully hcg levels and progesterone will be all ok.... Hate stressing over this, there's enough to worry about at Christmas anyway...

I had mine done right on 15dpo, the morning after my first positive HPT... I'd also had spotting that morning and the morning before so I figured better to find out whats going on than to get my hopes up again only to have them dashed a few days later.

My OB has an ultrasound thingo in her surgery and as soon as I said I had a pos test and said what date last period was we went into the room with the scanner. I was about 3 months along though because I didn't realise I had skipped periods for so long and put preg symptoms down to stress.
