I don't even watch night-time tv. We record everything and watch them at a time that suits us (and usually get really annoyed when we find out the network has changed the timeslot without us knowing so we've missed a few weeks of episodes). I think the DVR is almost full because there's so much stuff I've recorded but haven't watched yet. I'll be lucky to finish it all... Plus, I've got an entire house to clean since I'm so slack with it at the moment. It has well and truly gotten away from me...
The reason I'm finishing so "early" is that the company I work for is closed between 24 Dec - 3 Jan. If I went back on 4 Jan I'd reach 36wks the next day and want to stop then anyway... I don't officially start maternity leave until 4 Jan.
LondonMiss - great to hear from you, you had me in stitches as always! Like the others, can't believe its been 4.5 months already?!
CK77 - ooooooh, its getting closer! Great news that the plug is gone. I've heard those stretch & sweeps are rather unpleasant... Did they suggest it, or did you ask for one? I hope these last few days pass quickly for you sweetie, and you're home for Xmas.
Renee - its getting closer for you too, girl! I can imagine how it would feel like its never going to happen. I'm getting a little impatient, and I've still got 3.5 weeks to go.
KellyD - CONGRATS on two precious little boys! KWYM about boys names, they're hard...
Babytruj - great news on seeing the heartbeat!! Thats wonderful! Its such a special thing, isn't it? I bawled my eyes out when I saw it for the first time
Hi to everyone I've missed, hope you're gearing up for a fun weekend. AFM, 4 birthdays this weekend, including DH's! Fun and games
Went out and bought an Epi-No yesterday (perineum stretcher) - has anyone else tried one? Tearing is my 2nd biggest fear, behind having an epidural, I'm desperate so I'll try anything! Had my last lot of acupuncture today too, she said she was going to start "getting things moving", and bub hasn't stopped squirming since... hopefully she wasn't being overly literal!?
Day time TV is really bad, but here it just seems to repeat everything all the time - so the same thing is on at 9am, 12pm and 6pm...
I haven't even thought about maternity leave yet, still waiting for 12 weeks But I work from home, so may try to stick it out as long as I can, and take more time after
I had to tell my boss, as I was supposed to go to London for work at 6 weeks, and couldn't lie about why I couldn't go.
My doctor does not want me going anywhere, even on a boat at the moment, and she is waiting to see how things are at 12 weeks before she aproves. My DH just wants to book a holiday to get away from all the stress, but I won't let him till doc says its ok
hi all, just a quick one from me!
we have arrived in darwin, found a lovely house and are organising our move in on monday.
had our scan on thursday - was showing 13 weeks and all is good! so happy!!!
kelly - just wanted to say a huge congrats on the boys!!! omg i was so shocked when i read that... just assumed it would be girlies!!! congrats. little boys are just so lovely. ox
Congratulations Glenny on Katherine. Love that name (and the spelling, like Anne of Green Gables says, it has to be with a K).
Juniper, I am counting down the days too! Of work, that is. I have ... 7 work days to go. We have a Christmas closure, but I'm coming back for 3 days in first week of Jan. I'll have about 4-5 weeks before due date. Day time TV ... hmmm ... don't think that there will be time for that ... not with my almost OCD levels of cleaning (assuming I'm not asleep). Plus I have a few Jane Austen novels, which, given my current brain capacity, are taking an age to get through.
Chrissy, still going on Dexter. Planning a finale tonight. I am not such a Julie Stiles fan. I heard gossip that she's the reason they broke up? Anyway, just trying to distract you ... things are moving along though. Losing the plug ...eh? I am kind of scared of stretch and sweep. I don't know about others, and I hear this not usual, but I would say I had ... very sharp pain with my IUIs/transfers, like I could feel the catheter, which is very thin. That cervix is (or it was) very angry. Anyway, fingers crossed for you, and looking forward to some news soon!
Leabie, I've heard that there is good research to back the Epi-No. Let us know what it's like? My bub always goes nuts at acupuncture. Still, exciting that it's time to get moving ... yay.
Hope all are well and having a bit of a relaxing time, as much as it is possible during this time of year.
AFM, I am going a bit manic, because I had a spicy chai and about 10 mint leaves (ie the lollies, not the garden ones), so I've decided to solve all my computer problems and download all my relaxation CDs onto my i-pod. Needless to say, many hours of meandering and doing nothing have passed!!
Thank you for all the messages of congratulations. Katherine is beautiful and doing really well. She came in a big rush as the doctors were concerned about her. Basically- I went into hospital on the weekend due to lack of fetal movement and while I was there hooked up to a CTG, Katherine's heartrate slowed down to below 90, she did it twice just to scare mummy to death and then picked up again. By the time the on call OB had got to the hospital (the midwives called him in a panic when the heartrate went down) I had 15 mins of perfect trace so he decided to keep me on monitoring rather than do an emergency c-section then.
I was hooked up for 16 hours and she behaved herself perfectly!! We went in to see my OB on the Monday and he did an ultrasound. Unfortunately the US showed that Katherines rate of growth had slowed dramatically. She had gone from 57th percentile in week 33 to 34th in week 36. They were conceerned that maybe she wasn't getting enough nutrients from my placenta any more so scheduled me for a c-section on Tuesday. Glad we did as after the op, my doctor said it looked like my placenta was starting to break down. So- Katherine was born at 3pm on Tuesday with Apgars of 9 and 10. She has defied everyone's odds and has needed no special care at all!! She is home with us now and making our lives completely blissfull!!!
I will keep looking in to see how everyone else is going and try and get some persies done when I can
xxx
but HUGE CONGRATULTIONS on Katherine's arrival! that's one name we are considering so you have my approval (which i'm sure you were really concerned about lol).
that sounds like you've had a real toopsy turvy time emotionally leading up to her arrival but glad it's all good.
Hi ladies :-). Guess what??? I'm a Mummy!
My waters broke at midday on Saturday, and baby boy Rossi Dirk (Daddy's name is Dirk and his family has a tradition of Daddy's name being used as the middle name) was born at 2:15am today by c-section.
Nothing went to plan, syntocin to regulate then speed up contractions, then the syntocin made them too close and unbearable, then a shot of pethidine, I only dilated to 6cm, and because I had been in labour for about 10hrs at that stage with the unbearable contractions we decided on an epidural. 4 hours later I still hadn't gone past 6cm. The baby's heartbeat fluctuated between extremely low and extremely high (due to the syntocin) so the OB advised Caesar as baby in distress.
So 14 hours of labour all up with a posterior baby, then a 10min c-section :-)
Rossi was 8lb 5oz and 53cm long. Good head of dark hair.
RENEE, YOU'RE UP NEXT!! I'll be keeping an eye out!!!
I am so happy for you and now you have your gorgeous little man how perfect!!! Bummer things didn't go to plan but so long as you are both fine and healthy in the end!! I can't stand the waiting any longer it is killing me.
