    indian spices/spices in general

    DH is getting an indian cookbook and me a mortar and pestal as part of our christmas presents and i was thinking getting a heap of new spices to go with them
    so what one should i get?? mainly indian but love most spices

    Tamarind paste
    Hing/asafetida powder
    Cumin
    Coriander
    Fenugreek
    Mustard seeds

    Maybe a good set of spice tins to store them in as opaque Containers will keep them longer

    A lot of Indian recipes will use fresh coriander as a garnish as well, maybe you could get a plant teyre only a couple of dollars and are nice in pots

    All of the above I use Herbies as well for some of my mexican spices and dried chillis.

    Oh! Kafir lime leaves. I would probably suggest getting a plant though.... much better that way
