It depends what your tastes are really. Dance music is good (techno stuff if you're into it), or punk (Blink 182, etc). Black Eyed Peas would be another good one.

(this is all coming from someone who hasn't gone running in years!)

It depends what you like you can get some good apps that do playlists that compliment your running speed. Cadence and Synch Step.

I have a huge range that I exercise to and it's all types.

I love jogging to Black Eyed Peas and Pink.

Ministry of Sound have Running/Jogging albums. All songs have the same bpm.

One song always gets me started - please don't stop the music by Rhiannon. Got a great beat to get into rhythm with.

sarah, there's a thread it the fitness section about this. It might be about 12 months old by now. But my play list changes frequently. I get bored with my music easily so always change it up. Here's some stuff that's on my current list or I've had on it before...

    Raise your glass (Pink)
Dirty (Body rockers - this song is my constant. It's been on every play list for the last 18 months!)
    Dark beat (Oscar G)
I gotta feeling (Black eyed peas)
    Party all the time (BEP)
We r who we r (Keisha)
    Take it off (Keisha)
Hey baby drop it to the floor (PittBull)
    Rock This Party (Bob Sinclair)
    Respect (My Fitness Music)
Turn me lose (Young Diva's - a god warm up/cool down song)
    If I can't have you (Young Diva's)
Get ready for this (Biggest loser workout mix)
    On a mission (Gabriella Cilmi)
    Rock that body (BEP)
    Boom boom pow (BEP)
Highway to hell and long way to the top (AC/DC - good motivation )
    Right round (Flo rider)
Hands up (out of office - Ministry of sound)

My tip is to regularly change the order of your play list and to change the list frequently. A lot of people find their body responds to the music cues and will adjust for the next song.

Once you work out where you normally tire (say the 15 min mark), pop a really upbeat song that will get YOU moving and inspired into that spot. This will help spur you on.

Don't forget warm up and cool down music. A proper warm up and cool down is vital to avoid injury. I have slower music for my stretch sessions (stuff like Smile by Uncle Cracker)

What kind of earphones are you using? A lot of people find they get annoyed by the ear phones slipping out of their ears all the time. You can get sport ones that hook over your ears so they don't fall out. I have a pair that are like a headband but small ear pieces and are sweat resistant. Have you got an arm band for your iPod/phone? Well worth it Although I find it just as easy to pop it in my bra. When I box, I NEVER use my arm band as I always get caught up in my earphone cable - the iPhone goes in the bra and I tuck the cord in their as well!

    Enjoy!

a little but I usually only pop my iPod in there. I have a band for the phone. And I only ever pop it in the upper cup near the strap. I have tried heaps of different arm bands. My old one for the iPod (which I lost 12 months ago and still can't find!) was uncomfortable - too harsh a material. I bought one not long ago for the phone which had no give in it and was really uncomfortable. Probably the worst I've tried. That was returned quick smart! The one I have at the moment is a softer material, easy to use the controls on the device through the plastic (every other one I've tried it's been difficult), and just generally very comfortable. It is pink which clashes with my blue gym shirt but that's ok DH bought it but I'm not sure where from. Possibly JB HiFi.

Pre iPod, I use to pop my MP3 in a little pouch which I would then safety pin either to my gym towel or my gym clothes (usually the pants) depending on what I was doing.

I used to have a mixture of industrial and metal for most of my jogging. The Metal was faster beat then most metal but the Industrial threw extra beats in. It'd make me go faster then slower to really work my body.
