    Question Would you re-gift it?

    Hi all,

This morning Dh and I were given a coffee espresso machine from our neighbours. Although we already have one, and ours is in good condition still etc.

At the moment we are thinking of giving it DH's parents as a christmas present. Last year we bought them for christmas a series of coffee's for a machine like this one, but they never got round to buying it. So the coffee has sat there all year!

I plan on giving it a good clean out tomorrow, and printing off the manual from the internet.

But would you re-gift this? especially for your in-laws, or parents? At christmas?

    TIA

    Justine

Is it new or 2nd hand? I would re-gift it if it was new and I had no use for it.

nah its not new but its in really good condition. From what I can tell theres nothing wrong with it all, even all they sparkley bits are still sparkley!

Also if we do give it to them, I wasnt even going to pass it off as new, they would know the truth. I just don't know if its really acceptable :/

i would GIVE it, not GIFT it - so don't make it a present like Christmas, just give it as a good will kinda thing as it is second hand

I agree with BG, give it to them, but not as a Christmas gift

I would give it to them, and make the gift a few local barista classes so they learn how to use it. My uncle go this as a present once and thought it was fantastic, got really into it and loves to make everyone a coffee.

    Are your IL's coffee drinkers?

    Good idea bg!

I think I might do that, that means I still get to give it to them and not have it sitting at our place
But considering we won't see them again til christmas day I still might put a nice christmas ribbon on it, so it fits in with everything else Im sure they wont mind :P

Good idea appletree! FIL is a great coffee drinker, he has been asking for one for over a year now, and they just havent bought one yet. Although he wouldnt be the one making the coffee, MIL will be. FIL only makes himself anything if he is starving or dying of thrist and no one is around! SO maybe a gift voucher so MIL :P

Thank you all so much for your responses!

Depending how much it costs give them both a gift voucher. Your FIL just might surprise you when he knows how to make a decent cup of coffee.

You have given me an idea for DH who loves to make coffee using our machine.

:yeahthat: Maybe if you gave it with a heap of other little nice things?? Like did a bit of a decadent gift basket? And yes like you said letting them know it wasn't new etc.

But it completely depends on the person you're giving it to really, if you feel they would be ok with it then.....go ahead

Thank you so much for your replies.

we gave the coffee machine to the IL's and they absolutely loved it. Didnt care it was secondhand, didnt care that we didnt wrap, they were so happy.

Turns out they felt bad for not buying one sooner, so now they are rather happy with themselves

Actually Im pretty stoked they received it so well
