Raising girls is starting to scare me!

Ok so I got this new app for my iPhone called pink pad (tracking af, ovulation etc) and it has a forum attached to it which is frequented by alot of young girls.

Many stating they we having sex and giving/recording oral as young as 10.

This scares me so much as its way to young and seems girls are just getting younger when they lose their virginity.

I know how I parent will give my girls the right tools to make the right decisions but then even some things are out of my control.

Scary to think these young kids are doing these things.

Jeepers, I really hope joining a nunnery will be the "in thing to do" when DD approaches the teen years. It is soooo scary, give me sleep deprivation and toddler tantrums any day.

This is why I"m glad we live on a farm 42km from town LOL, we can keep them relatively safe from it. It scares the crap out of me to think that my girls could be doing that in a few shorts years but I'd like to think that we can raise them good enough so they don't need to do that sort of thing.

This is why I only wanted to have one girl - amongst a pile of boys she would be a tomboy and not that much interested in boys in that way.. LOL

Sadly I'll have 3 bloody girls, and knowing my genes, they'll be a bit of a scrub like I was.. LOL

Scares the life outta me too! I'm so worried for my DD when she's older. I worry for DS too. Kids are just in waaayyyy too much of a hurry to grow up now! I had no idea about oral sex, nor much about sex at all when I was 10...I was sooo niave, still a child at 10.

I feel just as scared for my boys. Was just thinking about it yesterday. Not only do I not want them maturing too fast, I also want them to learn respect for women so that it shouldn't seem okay to be doing that with a 10 year old girl.

By 10 I had a fair idea about sex - Mum was very open with me and there wasn't anything we couldn't talk about, but of course I had no idea what oral sex was or anything like that. I think knowing about it already made me a lot less inquisitive about it when I was a bit older and I didn't have to actually do things to find out what they were. By 13 though I was in with a rough crowd and knew it all then, still wasn't participating, but I was witness to other people doing a lot of it unfortunately. I think that is the part that worries me the most, I know what things were like when I was a young teen, and I know how casual things have gotten now and that there doesn't seem to be any secrets between groups of kids and I hate in a few short years my kids will be part of that casual culture of sex kwim?

Last year two boys from DD's school rode there bikes over to visit.... Adam took of his shirt, (covered in tats) and puffed up before he opened the door... I wet myself laughing, and poor Taylah died of embaressment!!
She'd better get used to it, he'll only get worse!!

Jodie, I think DH is more worried about having 3 hormonal women in the house than he is about boys LOL.

Hehehe, good point, but the girls are far outnumbered here...

I should be more worried about the boys I guess!!
I do make sure us girls dont take any crap from them, and they KNOW how to treat us properly... I only hope it carries out into the real world!!

Lol I wonder if df ever took into consideration 4 hormonal women when he proposed.

I would worry if I had boys to but I mean this in no disrespect to anyone with boys but teen fathers can walk away a hell of alot easier then teen mothers. And what scared me the most was these young children seemed so eager to please there somewhat older partner.

Trill want some company on that farm and say 5 years? Lol.

yes very scary. I have a 12 yr old girl who starts high school next year. YIKES i am packing it.
She is pretty naive about sex and at the moment isnt interested in the boy thing at all. She is just happy being a kid.
She did say to me a few weeks ago about some of the girls in her class who are obsessed with a boy at school, her take is I don't want to be like that Mum they go stupid. I want to get a good job instead.
lol lets see how long that attitude lasts. Hoping for a while yet..

Honestly though - it scares the life outta me too. I can only hope as a mother I have taught her well enough to respect herself, as her friend that she can trust to confide in me. We do have an open relationship and she knows she can talk to me about anything at all. I just hope to LORD this stays with her throughout her teenage years. Boy are they gonna be tough! I wasnt really into boys, but alcohol, drugs (the occasional toke) and smokes were my thing. I was too much of a tomboy to even be interested.

DD (8yo) doesnt even like the way girls her age dress - such as short skirts and short shorts. She looks at them in disgust and says 'Mum, why does that girls mother let her wear that in public?' Im proud of that. Not that she's judging the girl - but not liking what she is wearing and asking for me to buy that! DD wont even wear a full bikini in public without boardies and I like that - you never know who is looking at your children!

Fair point... but there is a lot more to unprotected sex than conception.

I agree about the age difference issue. I hope my boys are NOT 15 year olds getting blow jobs from 10 year olds. It's sickening and shows no respect to those girls.
