mum stopped taking me to bed when i got to high school. if he's happy to have u do it then keep doing it! one day u wont be allowed into his bedroom
So I have just put DS1 to bed. He is 7yrs old. I suggested that perhaps he may like to take himself off to bed, that was met with almost tearsI took him to bed, tucked him in, kissed him, told him how much I love 'my baby' and he was happy.
He cleans his teeth on his own, I ask him to go to the toilet and then either DH or I walk him to his bedroom, tuck him, kiss and wish him sweet dreams.
I can't even recall at what age my Mum stopped taking me to bed, it was pretty young as I was the youngest of 6. DH has said the same, probably when he started walking
At what age do/did you stop taking your kids to bed??

My girls are still little but my nephew is 12 and he has only just in the last year or two becoming better with going to bed on his own, up until last year he still wanted to sleep in my room when he came to visit. I think every child has different needs and if he needs his Mummy I don't see a problem with that, enjoy while it lasts I say xx
I agree with skybie, if he lets you do it, do it!! He will only be young once and when he stops wanting you to take him to bed you will be sad about it! I love to tuck my kids in and tell them how much I love them and usually a quick chat something little about the day. It's a special time for just the two of us, which often doesn't happen during the day. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Awww, he sounds gorgeous!
I remember my mum taking me to bed till I was well into high school - but by that time it was sitting having a chat on my bed before I got myself ready to jump in. I agree, enjoy it while you can as he will get to a point that you won't be allowed in there and you'll wish you were tucking him in again![]()

Thanks everyone. We plan on keeping it up until he is ready to go on his own. It's a precious time, hope it lasts a while yet. He is at such a nice age at the moment.
I know I'm late in on this, but I was just searching the forum for sleep issues of my own, but thought I'd give my two cents worth.
I think it was about 8 when I started putting myself to bed, but my mum and dad would come in after a few minutes to say goodnight again, I guess weaning me off the being taken to bed my mum & dad.
