    Eternity / Anniversary Ring

    Do you have one?

If so, how long had you been married when you got it?

When are they normally given? 1st anniversary? 5th anniversary? Birth of the first child?

    TIA

I have one. I got it on our first wedding anniversary, which was also the birth date of our first baby.

Yep. I got it for my birthday, but it's for the birth of DS. We had been married five months XD
I don't think it really matters when they're given

eternity ring on first wedding anni - he was looking for something else, and found a ring with diamonds set into the band same as my wedder set, so decided that was my gift that year
second anni he gave me another ring (with emeralds and diamonds)
third another (again, emeralds and diamonds)
fourth i got a diamond necklace (i ran out of fingers)
fifth -well, i'm yet to see!

i know a lot of people wait til the birth of their first child, or for the birth of each child (so there is a special something to hand down) - DH gave me a diamond necklace on the birth of our DD, which will be given to her when the time comes

i think it's entirely up to you (as in "you" as a couple)

Yes I have one. It's supposed to be first anniversary or first baby, whichever comes first. It came about like this as traditionally when a couple got married, they started TTC on the wedding night.
Mine is 18k gold with diamonds half way round it set in white gold.

I went and picked out and put a deposit on mine when we had been married only 7mths and told DH where to pick up in time for our 1st wedding Anniversary

Have one, got it for our 6th wedding anniversary which coincided with birth of 1st child. He had it on hold for the 5th anniversary but I miscarried a month before and he didnt think I would want it then, thought I might think he was trying to 'take my mind off it'.

Eternity rings are traditionally given after ten years of marriage.
    My nana has one
    My mum got one
And I will, in 7 more years.....

Mine was ordered on our first anniversary, and I actually received it not long after.

We're having an additional stone put in for the little miss, and then maybe other stones for other events down the track.

I have an eternity ring I received for our 1st wedding anniversary. I wear it in front of my engagement and wedding rings.

When I fell pg with my first child I told DH he had to buy me a 'maternity' ring. You know, like an eternity ring only a woman gets it when she falls pg?? He fell for it and I wear my 'maternity' ring on my right hand. The blokes at work gave him hell for it! I also received a beautiful necklace when my first DD was born. For the other two bubba's.... NOTHIN'!!!

This was a big joke between DH and I in our first year of marriage. We got pg within the first 6wks of getting pg and I always told him he had to get me an eternity ring - which is usually given at the end of the first year of marriage but when I got pg it turned into a Maternity Ring LOL. DS was born 6 weeks before our first anniversary, but I got the ring by the time our anniversary rolled around and we were on holidays. It was a sapphire and diamond setting.

I'm still waiting. We've been married for 5 years. We decided I will get one when we renew our vows on our 10th anniversary.

I just got one for christmas it matches my wedding ring. I was hinting at one as my fingers have shrunk so I was wearing my rings on my middle finger so I said I needed an eternity ring in the right size so they would hold my other rings on my ring finger

DH and I have been discussing it over the last week or so... My BIL gave my SIL one at Christmas and they got married in October.

I had heard 1st year, 5th year and first baby...

Does it have to be a band of diamonds? Or 'traditionally' that's what they are?

Mine has 9 small diamonds all together on top half of band. I wear on right hand as looked too much with 3 rings on 1 finger on 1 hand. And Jewler actually said better to wear on right.
