Moving interstate but I have some questions about removalists
So it is definate we are moving and we have basically set a date to do it. I have a question relating to removalists though.
How far ahead did you book your removalists for an interstate move?
Did you trust their online quote or did you get them to come out for a physical look at what needs to be moved and have them quote from that?
How many quotes did you get?
I have moved interstate before but it was a self pack move.
TIA for any help.
We moved overseas but I think it's all similar. We got three quotes based on my estimate of cubic meters. I phoned and asked about estimating volume though, people were really helpful. I was pretty close in the end.
The big difference in price for us was the hourly rate, the volume rates were all similar but some charged more for their time than others.
We got the quotes one week and then they came the next. Not sure if we got lucky but we didn't have to wait. But maybe give yourself a couple if weeks to be safe! The truck didn't leave our place and go to Brisbane. It left our place went to the depot in Melbourne and then went to brissy before being shipped. So that might also make a difference to how quickly they can do it iykwim? If they need to schedule the interstate drive ob the same day they might need more notice. I'm only guessing though!!
I did both when moving from queensland to tassie, I got online quotes from ones that weren't local, and I got some people to come out and do an inhouse quote.
I went with the second cheapest and they were really good - I was happy with them.
Thanks for that. I think I will give it a week and then I can roughly estimate the amount of each type of box. I do have some rough quotes, but I had no idea on the amount of boxes I would have so it was a rough guess.
Mine was a rough guess also, and I think it was only a few different from the quote so I emailed the people and it didn't change the amount. So don't stress too much
ours was paid for by the company but we had a cubic meter limit.
we went with Wridgways best customer service, best delivery time frame and they were located where we were moving to as the other companies didn't have storage local to us as we didnt ave a house to move into just yet and we wanted stuff close.
we rang and had them there in 3 days and only needed to give 3 days notice to move into the new house.
Oh just remember most of teh time they go on container size. a 20 foot is about 35 cubic meters of furniture. we have 5 people and a 3 bed house and we still had room left over in the 20 foot
we used online quotes aswell as having a company come to the house for an estimate.
We ended up using an online backloader for our move as we had 1 week between houses being available they were able to store it for us also, the backloader made it a cheaper omve for us,
