How soon does bleeding stop then my period begin?

    hi all,

I gave birth to my daughter who was still born on the 16/12/2010.

I have not yet stopped the bleeding, well its more like a light pink and only a very very small amount.... when will i start getting my period or when do i start ovulating... i am all a little confused... my 6 week check up is not until 28th of january. I have noticed some stinging wheni go to the toilet. I had no stiches but only grazes. I have noticed ihave a little bit of a heavy feeling sometimes and tenderness near a certain part (unsure if i am able to write it on here)

I am just wanting some guidance. I am 27 this was my first pregnancy....

I'll give you my experience. It's different for everyone. I think I bled on and off for about 20 days after birth. PPAF arrived just after 12 weeks. I don't know when I ovulated because I wasn't temping and had other things on my mind. I took a pill to suppress lactation as I couldn't face my milk coming in without a baby to feed. That may have affected the hormones a bit.

I'm now just over 5 months since birth and I'm in my 3rd 'normal' cycle since PPAF. Ovulation seems all over the place but the cycle length is back to normal.

HTH and again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Hun I'v just posted in your other thread but I wanted to offer you another . With my stillborn son my lochia lasted 3 weeks and I got my period back at 6 weeks to the day. Each and every woman is different though so it's hard to say.

Regarding the pain and stinging, I'd suggest getting a check from your ob or midwife babe. Just to make sure it's all ok.

I suggest pouring water down there when you go to the toilet. It worked for my grazes... I'm so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your daughter huge hugs,

My post partum bleeding stopped after 6 weeks though yours sounds light already so maybe another week or two....

I didn't have sex for a few months but I had 3rd degree tearing and stitches.....

    thanks tashy-

yeh i had my milk come but had none come out..... i was just advised to massage my boobs in the warm showers and to avoid having any milk come out......

other than that i guess im just waiting for this to stop. I have been very busy and flat out since giving birth, so i guess a bit more rest will help with my recovery..

My bleeding stopped maybe four weeks after my son was born (he was also stillborn) and my first period was in May. So maybe a month after the bleeding stopped? I have weird cycles though, so don;t use me as the be-all and end-all of when you should expect your own body to co-operate

Huge s for having your little girl leave you

    thanks spring -

yeh i plan to find a very good gyno or female doctor, as i am not too happy with the obs at the hospital i had my birth at. As they made some comments to possibly "missing something" regarding my daughters birth. Which i am not too happy with.

So i guess once this bleeding stops and then i get my period again, this is when i will start my cycle again and start ovulating?

just so i understand it all thankyou for all the hlep
