    Cleansing kids' rooms help?

Hi all... the time has come for DD2 to finally move out of my bedroom and into her own room! She's 18 months and hasn't co-slept since 8 months so it's well overdue, just that 'her' room was previously occupied by BIL (who moved out many months ago and shows no signs of coming back), then used as a storage room for all our junk.
Carpets have been ripped up and are being replaced this afternoon, walls are being repainted... but the two windows (facing north and west) in the room both look out onto the backyard where MIL was killed two years ago.
I want to do my best to rid the room of any negative energy that may be lingering, to ensure that she sleeps well and isn't bothered by any bad vibes. I can't say that I've felt any really bad vibes since moving in here (although I do believe that I saw MIL at the end of the hallway one night, and once in the kitchen - they weren't 'bad' feelings though, just made me sad that she wasn't here any more), but I don't want to put DD2 in the 'bad' room unless I've taken steps to 'refresh' it so it's a suitable environment for a small child.

Can anybody suggest some tips for cleansing this room - herbs, oils, crystals etc? I want to keep her sleeping in our room until the walls are repainted (probably at least another fortnight) so I have some time to gather supplies. Any advice is really appreciated TIA!

    Burn some sage.

There is a thread I started in the Paganism board about cleansing our house, some fab ideas in there

I would also be inclined to do something outside too.

Get some white sage if possible. Also, ring a bell in the rooms to help cleanse it. DH & DD1 had to do a cleansing in this house when we moved in in Sept - I oculdn't do it because burning sage is a no no in pregnancy. I couldn't walk into the house without feeling someone here who wasn't happy to have us here. The cleansing helped HEAPS but time has helped also. We get the occasional thing happen but it doesn't make us feel uncomfortable anymore.

I believe most commercially available smudge sticks are sage...in nice big bundles...so it should not be hard to get. They just smoulder, rather than burn, so you won't start a housefire! :-D

What I was going to say. Our tobacconist sells white sage sticks.

Also a lot of crystals can be used to transmute negative energy, a lot of the quartzes I think? Amethyst, citrine, also topaz. A nice amethyst cluster is really pretty, and / or you could hang a suncatcher at her window with chips in it.

consecrated salt along window ledges (I put mine in the runner frame) also outside the window, use some of the salt when you clean the room (in the water you use to wash down the walls), even sprinkle some salty water on the carpet (not much)

Thank you ladies so much!! I'm not normally so concerned about the energy of a house/rooms but given the circumstances in this particular house (which I was *very* wary of moving into in the first place), I just want to give us all a chance to be comfy in our new sleeping arrangements! I'll have a squiz around the shops tomorrow to see if I can find somewhere that sells smudge sticks - would sage incense be a decent alternative in the meantime? I'm pretty sure I can get some crystals so hopefully that will ward off any bad vibes until I can get some sage

And also remember objects are just that unless you put your energies into it. Visualise as much as possible.

I tend to go the charcoal and protective resins/herbs when I cleanse. And interestingly I've always found a room that doesn't retain any smoke is often one that needs to be cleansed a bit more.

Id be inclined to also go and plant some happy and bright flowers under the windows to promote positive vibes to the view....perhaps some lavender for cleansing aswell and some marigolds
