Question I've finally realised that enough is enough..

I weighed myself yesterday and i weigh exactly what i did the day i went into labour with Miss K. And that weight is 105kg *blushes*

I am absolutely devastated, and feel so disgusted with myself so i have decided that this is the year to finally stop all the excuses and sort myself out.

My goal weight is 75kgs and i want to be my goal weight by this christmas.

Those of you who have lost a large amount of weight what are your tips and suggestions to ensure i can do it. I am making an appointment with my GP to talk about new medication for my insulin resistance as while on it i have gained 10kgs. And possibly get a referral to a dietician.

Anything you have is muchly appreciated

Try not to be too hard on yourself, yes your here but you can work on it and get healthier!
4 years ago I lots 13kg, Im not sure if thats what you would class as a big weight loss? I joined the gym and cut saturated fats out of my diet(by going vego) it was the best decision I ever made.
Going to the gym(or excersizing at home whatever) regularly is a great way to get fit and start feeling better about yourself. Even running with pram, good excuse to get out of the house... Good luck, you can do it!

    hey love,
a few years ago i lost 30kg over about five or six months ie a kilo a week. I started off with Jenny Craig because I knew I needed to be kept accountable. It also made getting into the mind-set much easier.
I did 10kg with them and once i'd knocked that first 10 off i was on my way. Ditched JC and did the last 20kg by myself. But you HAVE to be anal about eating right and even more anal about doing your exercise every single day.

I still find it helpful when i need to exercise to just decide to do it. that's it. the decision is made. I don't allow myself to "oh but i have to do this", "oh but i'm tired" etc. You just have to make it a given for every day, accept it, do it, enjoy it and get on with your day. once you start to debate yourself, you'll end up doing a half-hearted effort or not going at all.

the other huge thing that helped me was my DH. He came running with me, came to the gym, he ate what I ate and didn't drink/do chocolate in front of me. He was the reason behind my success. He helped me every step of the way. He'd ride beside me while I ran (by that stage i was outrunning him) and would encourage me when i felt like giving up. So you NEED to find your rock who will cheer you on and not judge you.

You also need to accept that you will lose weight easier one week than the next and that you may have the occassional slip up. if that happens, don't beat yourself up endlessly, just get on track asap and work extra hard your next workout.

Okay i think i've prattled on enough!

I'll be looking to lose about 20kg or so after this baby is born, so will doing this journey this year as well.. but throw in breastfeeding to the mix! lol.

    good luckand all the best.

Grub- Thank you so much. I have sent a request for a call back with JC im thinking i also need that kick in the butt and lose the first part of my weight with some help. DP has said its expensive but i have said that we NEED to do this for me as its my health we are talking about. I just need to learn new habits and get into that mind set of eating healthy and exercising everyday. I'm giving myself a year so i don't have so much pressure on myself and i can just go at a slow and steady rate and if i lose it all sooner then thats great.

Check out the Fat Chic Slim page on Facebook for support and advice. There are regular challenges and great advice.

Also google Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation. Costs $20 a week or $200 up front. She gives you breakfast, lunch and dinner meal plans with all recipes, plus what workouts to do based on your fitness level. There is a forum that has amazing support and the program works. She also does videos and live feeds where you can ask her questions. I did it before Christmas and got back to my pre kids weight. I think people are successful on this program because even though you are told what to eat, you have to make it all yourself so you learn what's healthy and how much to eat and carry it through forever.

I lost 26kgs a few years ago. Put a little bit back on but kept most off. My advice is to find an exercise that you really like because then you can keep it up for a long time and not get really bored. For me it is soccer (first indoor then outdoor) - a team sport - uses lots of calories (around 1000 in a game of outdoor) - requires skill so instead of focusing on how puffed you are you are just focusing on getting the ball - team sport so you know you have to turn up. It may be something different for you. It is very worthwhile spending the time to find out what you is active and you actually enjoy it. Good luck . you can do it.

I lost 27kg between 2001 and 2006. It came off slowly and stayed off (and all I have to lose is 5kg of baby weight from being pregnant). I did this with weight watchers first of all and then a combination of just being uber healthy and getting really into exercise - running, weights etc.

    You can do it!

    Thanks everybody.

I have talked to DP and we are going to see my doctor and work on getting myself healthy and then i will do jenny craig or even weight watchers until i lose the first 10-15 and then do the rest myself. The first 6-8 weeks will be hard but if i can get through that it should be easy.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement

I started at 101kgs - had to loose 30kgs to get to my goal weight of 71kg. My best tip is break it up. 30kgs is ALOT of weight, but 5kgs is much more manageable. Just focus on lossing a little at a time and you will get there.
