    Pro active

I'm so fed up with my skin constantly breaking out in really nasty pimples that I'm considering using pro active. Has anyone ever used it and if so what did you think?

I never used it, it simply would not have worked on my acne, but I have heard mixed reviews, mostly good.
Technically, it should work, it is basically peroxide. I have heard Benzac cream from the chemist works just as well.
Do you know what causes your acne in the first place?

From what I have heard it = total skin anilhilation (sp). It won't only destroy your acne, but your whole face.

I've been a sufferer of really gross acne and 'wet' psoriasis (skin problems run in the family) and would only consider it as a last, last, last resort.

I researched and tried every other possible treatment (except medication from Dr...didn't want to resort to that) first, and luckily, found one that worked a dream.

Unlike Lime, I've heard mostly bad results. Mostly that it dries skin out too much (which peroxide will do), which then of course makes the skin produce *more* oil to compensate for the oiliness, and then of course more acne.

If you have something really, really nasty like Cystic Acne, it *might* work, but if you did have medically diagnosed Cystic Acne, I'd reccommend a trip to a GP and then Dermatologist before doing anything, becuase it scars up really badly if you do the wrong thing to it.

PS: As a spot treatment only, not as a whole face thing, the Benzac (the strongest one - 5% I think from memory?) does work well, but not long term. I eventually found it too drying. They have a body wash too which is apparently good if you get it on the shoulders too like I did, but I have never tried it.

Yep, won't work with cystic acne

i did proactic for about 6 months, but i never really had acne, just the occassional breakout. it got rid of random pimples, but was definately too drying. that being said, my girlfriend still uses it and swears by it. if you can afford it, i'd take a trip to ella bache or equivalent, get a facial and skin diagnosis, and i've heard their acne treatments are wonderful.
