Im making pumpkin soup for dinner but the stock cubes i had in the pantry are use by Nov 09....
Can i just use plain water? I just hope there will be enough flavour.
    Thanks x

I've used vegemite to replace stock before, saw it in a book.

If ti were me i would just pretend i didnt read the use by date and still use the stock cubes
Otherwise just water and maybe a bit extra salt and pepper or dried herbs or something.
Vegemite sounds interesting but would make sense

I thought stock cubes only had a best before date? I still use them even if the date is out. I can't use that many stock cubes in the time from when I buy it to the best before date (that's when I had to get the continental 4 stick pack - at least I think it was the continental brand)

    meh, use the stock cubes!
lol, or just put in extra herbs, a bit more salt and pepper etc. it may weaken it by adding too much water, so maybe go a bit of cream aswell?
or, i ust add curry powder!
