in march we're moving and settlement for both houses is on the same day. so we kind of can't do 'a few trips' (also due to the whole 3hrs between houses!) so we're looking at hireing a truck and we guessume around $800 for the move. as for truck size anything up to a HR (my dad's going to be driving it as he was a trucker he still has his HR licence!) plus we have two wagons and a trailor.
who can we use as the only one thus far for the truck hire is budget. and i want to know if there is any more ( i have also sent off for some quotes for removelests but i'm dreading the $$ they'll charge! even though we'll be packing it all our selfs.)
we did our move ourselve, we hired a smaller truck through Europcar and made a few trips between Sydney and Canberra though, it would have been easier with a bigger truck but our driveway was awkward.
Thirfty and Avis do truck hire, but not all outlets do it. I don't know if this would work but there is a company called u pack it, which hires out sea containers tha5t you pack yourself, they transport it to the destination and you unpack it there.
my last 2 moves have been from budget and hurtz(sp?) the first move we did (also a few hours away) my dad borrowed his mates semmi and the whole house pluss 3 motor bikes fitted in the back, very easy all done in one move. of course he borrowed his mate to drive it to. that was the easyest way we have done it by far! if we have to move again i would consider that way, but finding a diffrent truck driver as that guy was a seriouse knob!!
