I need help with destinations please!

So DH turns 40 this year and I turn 30, I'd like to plan a memorable holiday for all of us for our special birthdays except I have no idea where to go!

DS1 will be close to 4 and DS2 will be 6 months, so obviously family friendly.

Our budget is between 3 and 5k and we'd like to go for 7-10 days.

We live in Adelaide, so anywhere not in SA would be good, we've been to most places in the state.

Overseas destinations recommendations are welcome too, but not too far away.

So hit me with your best holiday destinations!

When are you thinking of going? What about NZ or The Whitsunday's (a few family friendly resorts there)
ETA: We've been to Long Island, just beautiful, family friendly, and cheap too

    Whitsundays are stunning!!
Friends love Fiji and Bali with kids

We have not yet done a family holiday but I would think most places have family friendly activities as well as non.

Melbourne has a lot to offer or you could go to Gold coast and do theme parks. Perth is gorgeous!

whitsundays and bali are awesome. what about somewhere like the gold coast?? you could go to the theme parks, or even a cruise. P&O do 10 night cruises and majority of them are family friendly and have loads of activities for the whole family at a more than reasonable price

Id say Bali, look for one of the family friendly resorts we went for 4 nights in august and after we went I would now feel happy to go back with the kids so we are going around may

Most cruises have 1 year min age for passangers.

New Zealand sounds nice, just depends on the $$ side of things...

I don't think I'd relax on a cruise with young children, maybe in a few years time that might be a nice holiday.

Gold Coast is a good option too...

Oh, and we're looking at going around October.

Obviously I haven't looked into it, but you'd think that Bali would end up cheaper than anywhere in Aus...yes airfares would be more exxy, but accom in Australia is MUCH more expensive. Soo jealous, wherever you go have a ball!!

When we went we got a campervan and travelled the South Island for 10 days. It was beautiful!

Bali and Fiji are great and very family friendly.

Inlaws had a holiday on Hamilton Island, they said it was the best holiday they had in years. They have two kids and rented and apartment and just loved it.
    They live in Adelaide too!

Keep in mind if they don't already have them, that os will mean you need to pay for everyone's passports, they aren't cheap either so can eat into your budget

I would head up to the Gold Coast, off season. We stayed at Sanctuary Cove earlier this year for around $5k (May) and the rooms are half price, and that included food etc too.
