Question Places to stop to break up flights

Rather than being on a plane for what feels like forever, Where would you / have you stopped to break up a long flight? What places do you think would be a good or interesting places to stop?

What are your experiences in having stopovers in the particular place or things that you have done with a limited amount of time?

    On the way to Europe?

    On the Way to LA?

    On the Way to NY?

On the way to Europe my favourite places are Singapore and Hong Kong. The airports are fab but getting into the city is easy enough and a few days at either is fabulous! Singapore would be the best and easiest if you have say only a day (no overnight). Dubai is also incredible for a stopover

LA - Dubai or Singapore. Same for NY or stop on the west coast of the States first OR fly with Cathay Pacific and stop in either Hong Kong or Vancouver

Most of the major hubs (cities) are situated away from the city/CBD and are not that easy to look around in a short (ie full day) stopover. In my experience, Singapore is the best for that in all instances you've mentioned.

    HTH!

Singapore or Hong Kong for me too. Great if you can spend couple days too. Singapore zoo can be good if you want to do something other than shop and eat

Hong Kong is the best place I've stopped over... Awesome for a couple of days sightseeing, or the airport is fantastic is only a few hours.

If you're flying from the East Coast of Aus, you won't stop on the way to LA.

LA or San Francisco would be the stop over on the way to New York.

Depends which airline you fly with. Cathay Pacific is via Hong Kong, Emiates is via Dubai, Singapore Airlines is via Singapore and Air New Zealand is via Auckland. If you fly Qantas or American Airlines then yes, it's direct to LA

LA or San Francisco would be the stop over on the way to New York.
Agree with San Fran but I personally think LAX is a crappy airport and it's expensive and difficult to travel anywhere in a short amount of time. You'd need at least a few days to do anything decent - all the attractions are quite spread out and public transport sucks

LA via Japan? or Hawaii? I've only done Vancouver so I'm not sure if that is an option or not.

Haha if I got a dollar for everytime I got asked this question!!!! Im a travel agent so you guessed it, id be rich!!!!

My favourite stop overs are in Dubai, great airport, great city and amazing shopping, there is heaps to do there!!!

Singapore is another is another really good one into Europe. There are also many option for a side trip on the way home from a Europe itinerary, if you want a relaxing break afterwards. Royal Brunei fly via Brunei (duh!) but you can connect on and do a side trip to gorgeous Kota Kinabalu for next to nothing.

I also love New Zealand so you could do Air New Zealand via Auckland

LOL, that's how i read it too STOKED.

i thought, this is going to be a thread about someone whose kids fight in the car going to wherever (daily errands), or maybe even a long distance car ride (going on holidays, visitng interstate rellies).

as in, where to pull over, deal with conniptions, and then resume drive.

must be tireder than we realise! (to misread the title).
