Has anyone experienced the following and gone on to have a healthy baby?
I found out I was pregnant on 2 Jan. I saw the Doc on 4 Jan and had a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. My HCG level was 138 which is considered low. My last menstrual cycle began 3 Dec. Which put me at 4 weeks and 1 day when the test was done.
I am now at 5 weeks and 5 days, and had another blood test to check HCG level yesterday - I find result out this Thursday. After going for a walk I noticed that I have had a very light pinkish bleed - only a spot of two.
I also no longer have all of symptoms of pregnancy that I had a week ago. I still have fatigue, drinking lots of water, bloated and constipation. But my breasts and lower back no longer hurt and the metallic taste in my mouth has gone.
My doc mentioned the term 'blighted ovum' prior to requesting the second blood test, which has now made me think the worst.
I am 34 and this is my first pregnancy. I am worried and very unhappy. My partner whilst supportive doesn't quite understand how I feel right now. Waiting is the hard part, but if I am having a miscarriage, how soon before you can conceive again?
Firstly, I am sorry you're going through this. Please try to relax. Bleeding very early on in pregnancy isn't always a sign of a bad thing. Can you go back to your GP and request they do an ultrasound to see where things are at?
I had bleeding/spotting in early pregnancy with my last 2 children, and I have had spotting loads of time through this current pregnancy.
With my DD2's pregnancy, my first HCG level was 120 and I expected it to be higher. The next HCG was a much better result and my DD is now 16 months old. I had a sub chorionic haematoma, which is a bleed between the uterus & placenta which led to some spotting. It was no longer there when I had my 18-20 week scan.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope you get some fantastic news in the coming days
your symptoms of pregnancy are going to change quite rapidly! i had the metalic taste only very early on, and that went away, along with all sorts of symptoms that come and go. also, i had bleeding early on this pregnancy (my 2nd) and had it checked out and everything was fine, no explanation for the bleed and it didnt happen again (very common!) stay positive! stay hopeful and hang in there till you see your doc. hope all is well :-)
Not all bleeding in pregnancy results in a miscarriage. If the bleeding intensifies I'd suggest going back to your dr. Hopefully your test results give you some positive news tomorrow
Are you going back for repeat bloods to make sure you're levels are rising? Id probably go back to the dr's if you're concerned...
Im 32, soon to be 33 and I have had bleeding through this pregnancy. it was brownish and the first time i had it for a week or and it was spotting and the second a few days...but this pregnancy is good....with my missed mc i had kinda pinkish blood but only a bit...
Symptoms will come and go so its hard to go by them...maybe if you have lost all you're symptoms id maybe be concerned
With DD I had some light spotting at around 6 weeks. Bleeding in early pregnancy is fairly common. A friend of mine bled all through her pregnancy and was even told at 11 weeks that she'd lost her DD who is now a happy, healthy 3 year old.
Maybe take it easy until you see the doctor tomorrow. Try not to worry until you get the HCG results. Easier said than done I know. Fingers crossed you get good news tomorrow.
With both my girls I had bleeding. With both always when af would have been due and with dd1 it always happened if I did a lot of bending or lifting too. Scary stuff, but I had none with Ds at all.
I had some bright red spotting with my DS the day after my BFP at 5.5wks.
With this pregnancy I had 4 or 5 bleeds right from the start and up until 13wks when I had a big bright red bleed.
My HCG results with this pregnancy at 5wks 1d from LMP were only 29 as well, so even lower than yours. You levels for 4 weeks are actually quite good considering when your LMP was.
The bleed could possibly be a bit of an implantation bleed, and it has also been suggested in the past in another thread by another lady that a thrush infection early in pregnancy can also cause the odd bleed or 2 as well.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but your levels do seem to be very good to me.
I hope you get a good result today and that those levels have risen quite a lot!
Congrats Ishka! Those numbers are definately fabulous! Mine were only about 711 or something like that, defiantely under 800 anyway, at 6.5wks, so definately looking very very good (I'm now 29wks 3d too, so this little one has definately stuck in there).
