DS woke up from his nap at 2pm. He seemed extra groggy.
He said he was sick and has been laying naked hugging me since then.
His temp was 37.4 upon waking
Then 37 for the last few hours
My temp is 34.6 and I'm pregnant.... The air con is on but his skin is hot to touch...he's just fallen asleep on me now....
What should I do?
Is his temp high?
His heart is beating really fast, for resting and he didn't eat much today...picking only and isn't even very hydrated. He spent a little while (20 min) in the sun and pool this morning but doesn't look burnt
What have I done to him?
If you have a 2 yr old and can check their temp? Or have any idea. He's never sick
Also he shakes every now and then, like he's cold
Please help. Should we go to hospital, being a Sunday! No gp....
If he is out of sorts (groggy like you said) and complaining of being sick, then there is no harm in getting him checked at the hospital. I wouldn't be concerned by the temp at all, but the other things you mentioned would have me alarmed and on a lot more regular watch for other symptoms.
Sounds like he is coming down with a bug of some sort, but the temp is not concerning at all.
Keep an eye on him and keep his fluids up - food is not really important, but hydration is.
Lots of cuddles and lots of water and love.
If his temp goes above 38 or so, then I would be concerned, otherwise, he is just a bit sick, nothing to be scared about. Sounds exactly like how Charlotte gets when she has a bug, we had a day of it last week, then the next day she was fine and merry again.
:yeahthat:
Sounds like he may be coming down with a bug. I wouldn't be too concerned, I generally give panadol if they're high 37's or above.
My little man has a temp of 38.5 at the moment, his 9th ear infection (13 months old). Now the panadol has kicked in, he's running around happy as larry.
Keep an eye on him, if he gets worse, maybe book in to see your GP tomorrow
He could also have heat exhaustion. The symptoms are very similar to what you described. Being out in the sun for 20 mins can be all it takes for some kids. Have you tried giving him sips of water every 10-15 mins? Or even something like powerade/gatorade? It could also be that he is coming down with a bug of some type as the others have mentioned.
