    The big el'choppo....

In about 1 hr I'll be sitting in front of my hairdresser getting my long curly hair chopped off. When I booked in I told her not to let me cave, and that I put my full trust in her to give me a good, short(er) hairstyle.

For over 15 years I've had hair past my shoulders, that I do nothing with, just let it fall, or stick it up in a mess of a pony tail. This is going to be such a big change, but I'm feeling really drab and need a pick me up. I'm armed with a few pics of Meg Ryan's hair cut at one stage, hoping when I walk out I'll be all skinny and gorgeous like Meg too

Unless I chicken out and just get a trim.....

DO IT! You wont regret it at all. I used to have long, thick wavy hair, but I got it cut really short once and I loved how easy it was to manage so I've always kept it really short except for when pg with DS2 but I got it all cut off again after he was born.

    Awesome!

I did just that a few years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I feel so much more sophisticated.

    Enjoy the liberation!

I've joined the shorter hair club too! Just about 6 weeks ago.

I had the same long hairstyle for almost a decade, but I was ready for a new look. People say it is fantastic and to never go back to really long hair. I am LOVING it. I hope you will too.

Ooohhh... I have an appt tomorrow for the same thing! Long hair I never do anything with. I told my hairdresser I want her to chop it all off! Well, to above the shoulders...

But I think I'm chickening out already...

Let us know if you have it done and whether you like it!

I'm doing the same thing tomorrow - longish hair bob cut style that I just keep growing out 2 times a year after I get it trimmed. I've had this style for most of my life apart from about 3 years or so in total since mid primary school (so about 20 years agghh - that makes me feel old even though I'm not that old yet) okay enough of my ramble now....

Oh I so want to do this too! I feel like I've got a decade old hairstyle and want a short style.

Question for those who have done it - I have super thick hair - will I need much product to keep it tame if it's short?

    Sorry to hijack! Good luck!

It depends on how short you go. My hair is really thick too and when it is half grown out - so maybe 2-3 inches long, I do need a lot of product to keep it how I like it, but I only go out in public twice a week so the rest of the time I just pin it back. But with the length it is now - about 1 inch long, I don't need much product at all really.

I've got think hair too, but curly. I always get the hairdresser to thin out my hair a bit when i get it cut shorter and that works really well. Don't need too much product that way.

Not sure whether it works the same way with straight hair.

I didn't cry, I love it, and it feels so nice to have a lighter head of hair! I'm still actually in shock that I went through with it, but I'm really happy with how it's worked out. Tomorrow morning when I have to do it myself might be a different story, but it's a pretty simple cut so shouldn't be too hard to manage.

I put a before and after pic (self taken so excuse the quality) in my album on my BB profile, and being a dingbat I'm not really sure how to link to it. Which code I was meant to use? Anyways, if you want to have a peek look at my profile, but I'll prob take it down soon because well you know, people can tell who I am now lol

ETA hoping that link works - thanks Leckert!

ETA part 2 - removing link so no one can stalk me jkg
