Lunch box or zip up lunch bag for nearly 4 year old?

    Hi
We have to take a lunch box/bag to preschool and I'm not sure what would be easier. The lunch bag gives more room (was thinking of the Moo one on the web) but not sure of a zip for DS?

Lunch boxes are smaller and he may have problems opening and closing as well. What do you recommend?

The lunch bag is personalized so would be easier for the staff to know it was his, though I could put a sticker with his name on the box. Why can't I make a decision? Lol

DS and DD1 both take a lunch box - they have trouble with the big heavy zippers that are on most lunch bags

    can he do/undo zips??

is it something you would expect to last more than a year? If you think it will go to distance, he will soon learn to do it.

From a Mum POV lunchboxes are miles easier to clean......having said that mine use zip ones LOL, even my almost 3yo and he manages TOO well, usually gets into it before I can pack it in his bag!!

We've tried both here. I found that the zip up lunch bags get a big grubby and can get mouldy is not cleaned properly. A plastic lunch box is more hygienic and much easier to keep clean. There are heaps of varieties out there for little fingers to open

We have lunch boxes here. DS has a tupperware one with a space for a popper, sandwich and some snacks. I'm not sure if he can undo the clip (I think so, but I've never actually seen him do it) but I'm sure the daycare/preschool people could help

    Good luck!

Thanks ladies. I bought the zip up one but might leave that for me to use on the weekends as something special for me to carry lol. I will use a lunch box for him in the short term as I think it will be cleaner as I was worried about this too. I'm so excited about him going to preschool it's ridiculous lol. Well after the upset part anyway that will inevitably happen!
