How much do I need to spend on a mattress

We've decided to set up the old double bed for DS1 so DS2 can have the race car bed. DS1 requested a bus bed so as a comprimise DH is going to paint a bus on a door and somehow attach it to the side in such a way so I can remove it to make the bed.

Anyway to my question. I'm looking at the Super A-Mart catalogue and there's a huge range of prices for mattresses. How much is reasonable for a mattress for a 4 year old?

Ikea matresses are really good quality and cheap. You can get a double for around $200.

I got a double mattress a few weeks ago for DD from forty winks for around $300 which is really comfy.

I was going to say round $200 as well but only because the singles we got for the kids were about $100 each.

I found with the cheaper mattresses at shops like Amart you can feel the springs when you lie on them. WIth the Ikea ones you can't feel the springs.

I always go by the rule of thumb of "as much as you can afford".

Personally I wouldn't go to AMart, but Bev Marks Beds have good quality affordable mattresses.
