    Taken from the V/Line website:

Children 0-3 years - Children under 4 years old travel free on public transport in Victoria.
4-16 years - Entitled to concession fares on public transport across Victoria.

DS is 4.5 and I haven't thought about paying for a ticket for him, I thought it was about 6?

ZF - oops! lucky I don't use it very often My mum has paid for his trips on VLine, but I thought it was a VLine thing, said I to myself until now, without ever checking the MetLink policy

In ACT it is school age (so about 5 or 6yrs). I used to feel a bit strange taking up 4 seats on the bus with only one ticket.
