no experience with IVF, but welcome to BB, there are lots of wonderful women with a tonne of information here for you!
Hi everyone,
This is my first post here!
DH and I have been TTC#2 since Nov 2009 and after 5 rounds of Clomid were referred onto the Fertility Clinic.
A quick rundown: We conceived DD very quickly without assistance so figured that would happen again. How wrong we were. After suspected PCOS, numerous ultrasounds and testing we were told it's not PCOS and was referred to my OB who is also a Gynae/Fertility Specialist who put me straight onto Clomid. I did 4 months of Clomid with really bad ovulation pain before he sent DH to have another Sperm Test done. We were to discover that he has very poor sperm quality which means we have 4% chance of conceiving naturally
So we had our first appointment yesterday and have come away feeling rather flat and confused with all of the abbreviations and unfamiliar terms.
The Doc told us that while we were welcome to try IUI we were to realise that it had a very small chance of success and that IVF really was our only hope. This is not what we wanted to hear.
He gave us a booklet and explained it all to us (he was really lovely and put us under no pressure whatsoever) and said to go away to think about what we'd like to do.
We desperately want another bubba but really have no idea what we are going to be up against. I guess that is why I'm here, to find out what other people have gone through with IVF and what it's like I suppose?
Thanks for listening!

Hi Smejamand welcome to BellyBelly!!!
So many girls around here have been through IVF and can share some great stories about their success and their hardships of going through it. Everyone is usually more than happy to answre any questions they can and just generally offer some support and
Sweetheart, thats is medical figure ONLY and dont you fall in to the trap of giving up on miracles. We did IVF for 5 years with no success. There was 11 cycles of all different types including IUI, IVF and FETs! We came away with nothing.....then in 2009 our little miracle was born, healthy and conceived whilst we were on a break deciding what IVF could do for us! These kind of things do happen and please dont ever give up hope!
IVF can be a long and hard process but there will be so much support here on Belly Belly, just ask and you will receive itIs there any specific questions you have that I might be able to help with??
Wishing you a short IVF journey and may you get your miracle soon
ETA we were given a 1% chance of conceiving naturally, forgot to mention that!

Thanks Lily Dust for your reply and encouragement. Congratulations on your little miracle!
No, never once have we given up hope that we'll be able to conceive naturally, we're just in that initial disappointment phase I guess.
I have some written information that they gave us so reading it is helpful, it's more the wanting to know what I'm up for ie: timelines, emotional stuff. What's it really like, not secondhand information that someone's written in a book if you know what I mean?
I will think of some specific questions and then fire away!
Thanks again![]()
Welcome to BB. We are another couple who were given a 1% chance of conceiving and if so there was a 50% chance of the pregnancy been ectopic. Before our first stimulated IVF cycle we concieved our tummy bub which made it to the right spot and is due in 3months time.
Has your DH tried ways to improve sperm quality? Not to say you both would want to try them but the difference between some sperm analysis before and after can be amazing. Wishing you all the best and will keep everything crossed bub no2 will be on his/her way very soon.
welcome to BB! i wish you all the best with your journey. My DH and i were givin a 1% chance and same problem my DH has no sperm motility and low sperm count. We also walked away feeling confused and flat but i believe the process is very easy it all just flows once you start and a good clinic helpsIs your DH on menevit? that helps my DH a bit? I think just go into it with an open mind and be prepared for the journey xxxxx
Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement !
My DH has been on Menevit for about 6-8 months.
We've got our next appointment in late Feb so will start to get the ball rolling but
In the meantime, I just need to shed some kilos to help my side of things ......
Welcome to BB. I haven't done IVF/ICSI but wishing you all the best with your treatment![]()
Welcome to Belly Belly hun
DH and I did our first round of IVF in August - he has a blockage so they have to operate to get sperm out of him
I dont think anyone here will lie and tell you it is easy because it isnt, but we are all here to help and support each other. Feel free to ask questions, especially if there is something you dont understand, the girls here have helped me understand so much about the IVF process.
Also do yourself a favour and buy the book making babies by Theresa Miller - It is all about peoples personal IVF stories. It really shows that everyone has a different journey.

Welcome to BB! There are so many lovely women here, who have some wonderful advice and experiences.
We needed IVF due to my endometriosis and blocked tubes - it was pretty severe and I had it removed. It took us 2 years to get our head around the fact that we needed to do IVF after that though, we found that we had to be in the right head space.
I found the whole IVF process to be very straightforward, not as stressful as I had anticipated (due to a very supportive FS) and our first cycle was a success.
I also did acupuncture along with my cycle, and feel that helped tremendously.
I am sure that as you go along, you'll have loadsssssss of questions which is what BB is really good for.
