DD & DS have been at my Mums today and then they went to DHs parents afterwards.
MIL feeds them junk despite me asking her not to. DD came home with a bottle FULL of fruit drink, not even fruit juice
Anyway, I noticed she had spots on her arms that looked like tiny little bites. I thought she must have just been bitten when outside this arvo. I chucked both kids in the bath and when DH got DD out she had larger spots on her cheeks (which weren't there before) and larger ones on her arms.
Do you think it may be sun rash? It would have only been her arms and face exposed while being outside. DS doesn't have anything on him. The only other thing I thought of was that maybe she had a reaction to the juice?
I have just given her a kids anti-histamine just in case.
there is a chance it could be anything, if they look more like blisters tommorow it could be hand foot & mouth, i thought ds1 was covered in bites but as there became more and more someone thought chicken pox, the next day they were blistered, according to the doc its easily picked up by kids. hope she gets better soon, if there still there tommorow id take her to the doc just for peace of mind.
Foot and mouth is going around my town at the moment too, it could be that, or it could just be a reaction to new grass, juice anything. My mum use to hold a glass over our rashes, apparently if it goes away or goes white its not such a concern ,if it stayed there, off to the Dr's we went. maybe google to see if thats actually right or an old wives tail. GL hope she gets better soon.
Thanks girls, I know it's definitely not H,F & M. The poor little poppet had that a few months ago. This is just on her cheeks and arms. I just went and checked her and the rash seems to have settled down. Will go in and check her again soon
If she's not used to fruit drink it could be the Salicylates, they are much higher in fruit drinks. You could give her a bath in Epsom salts. The sulphur will help draw any toxins out.
glad to hear it is settling down, poor little thing, cant be comfy having a rash.
*on a random side note - Yeddi, a friends grandmother told me to take a teaspoon of epsome salts in a cup of warm water to bring on labour. If it has the power to draw out nasties like that, think that is one piece of advice I'm happy to have ignored lol.
Actually UsPlus2, my grandfather used to have a teaspoon of epsom salts once a week without ill effect. It used to be quite a common thing to do in that generation. The reason it draws out toxins is because it is a sulphur, and sulphur binds nasty things like poisons and metals and you would just excrete it out (foods like garlic and onion are also high in sulphur). It was most probably their version of chelation and could bring on labour in the same way as taking something to get your bowels moving I would imagine.
I thought she would have be fine this morning but she still has a few spots on her face and A LOT on the backs of her arms. No temp and none on her torso, some on her feet though. SO it is definitely just the exposed areas from yesterday. Will link a photo in a min.
I have made her a Drs appt at 10.45am.
