Talking Weight Loss Surgery - your views

Ok, so I am thinking about having surgery to HELP me lose weight. I know I will not have surgery then POOOOOOFFF I wake up slim, and never again have to struggle. I am not niave, I know it will be hard work.

I have been large now for almost half my life and my mum (50+) stills struggles to lose weight.

So I have been contemplating surgery ie lapband or gastric sleeve.

I am wondering if any others have had either procedure done, know of anyone or have an opinion, please share.
I wanna hear it all, the good and the bad.

    Thanks

I know 5 people who have had it done.

Two it's been great for. They have lost an continue to lose weight, exercise and make better food choices.

Two have had ok initial weight loss but don't exercise other than incidental exercise, and eat junk.

One who tried really hard but had continual infections and problems and who's body rejected the band, she ended up having it removed.

I know one person and it's been fantastic for her. Totally changed her life. She also, however, knows other people who've had it done who it hasn't worked so well for.

She followed the instructions to the letter in terms of what to eat and how much plus has turned into an exercise nut; the ones who didn't lose weight ignored the rules and expected it to be a quick fix and that they could continue eating what they liked.

i too have known someone whom got it and had complete success and still is till this day..

to me it sounds like you have educated yourself on this path and know what you are looking at and what the ups and downs can be..
i think as long as you are sure and prepared for what ever comes with it you will be happy
i also think people should have some counselling before hand as this can be quiet life changing and can cause some issues...
i know the person i know that did it she lost so much wight now she needs to have surgery to remove excess skin etc but she is in love with herself now lol which is good..

I know someone who has had it done & it was very successful. I hadn't seen her for a while when I saw her at the shops the other week... it took me a minute to work out who she was

It's not pretty though. I know immediately after she had it done, it was really hard yards. And, what PP said - it's got to go with a total mental readjustment too, which is one reason Im not considering it, for me I know I have to work on the emotional reasons I eat.

Good luck sweet, whichever way you choose to do it
