Hills clothesline or Austral clothesline???? Have you had any issues?

Hills has always had a great name. Though I've discovered that in the last two years they are now made in China. Some of the parts are plastic and can cause problems (so I've heard).

Austral is cheaper but is Australian made. It markets itself as being better quality but is much cheaper than the Hills??

Any recommendations or issues you have had recently would be soooo helpful as I'm so confused! I'm looking at The Austral 45 Foldaway and the Hills Rotary 6/7.

    Thanks lovely ladies

Whatever you buy I would recommend a solid all steel one. We have a fold down hills one with some plastic pieces on it and all the plastic has degraded and crumbled in the rain and sun. All the plastic wires keep stretching and aren't long enough for dble sheets. HTH.

I know with the lines themselves you can replace those but that might be something to look into - the cost of doing that.

We went with a Hills one...but only because it matched our house...lame I know but where we could get them the Austral only came in forest green and I fair dinkum hate that colour. THe Hills ones had more coice.
We lived in Central NSW so the sun was a shocker out there and we didn't have any issues.
The lines can be retightened and I got the large family one so it took my kingsized linen no dramas. Held about 5 huge loads of washing too.

Normally for us price is the deciding factor though.
