OK, Emma is now commando crawling, which is very exciting for us. but now it seems that she has to be doing it ALL the time. Which has made nappy changing a nightmare! As soon as she is on her back she flips herself onto her front & wriggles away. I am now changing her on the floor for safety reasons. When DH is home we do it together (& it's still difficult LOL) She has a ball & I don;t want it to become a battle, but it is so hard!
I have the same problem with Gemma except she has learnt to kick me as shes trying to wriggly away! Not fun with a preggy belly! I just try to distract her with a toy or make absolutely ridiculous faces at her at high speed so she doesn't get bored with me!LOL! I change her on the floor now to as shes very quick at trying to get away.
You can get a safety strap/harness type thing that's designed for change tables... I've seen it on the net somewhere, maybe bump to 3??
I now give Kynan a small toy to play with (one that doesn't matter if it gets thrown into a dirty nappy LOL). Also, when he first started to get wriggly I started singing incy wincy spider to him when changing his nappy and teaching him the actions to it. It didn't take him long to try and copy the actions so now waving his arms around in the air keeps him occupied for a few seconds. Then I ask him to clap his hands for me, put his hands on his head, point to his nose etc. That gets us through most nappy changes with a minimum of escape attempts!
it is sooooo hard isn't it, i have actually perfected the art on changing a nappy backwards lol. sometimes if we are out i give dd something she isn't allowed to have usually such as my mobile and it keeps her still for a moment. when we are at home tho i usually do it backwards, sideways, standing up whatever - it can be tricky with a dirty one but have had do problems yet lol
good luck and hope you find a trick to keep her still
Indah's the same I just give her a toy & then crawl behind her doing up her nappy!
Maddy was so content compared to Indah... Maddy never moved at all for nappy changes, Indah flips & crawls away!!!!
Its really hard... I used to call it the crocodile death roll... Matilda started really young & I actually posted a thread around 16 months ago about it LOL.
Some tips worked great but the kids cotton on after a while & you have to keep up with something new.
* We sing "Twinkle Twinkle" with actions to start.
* We give Matilda a crinkle book that makes noise for her to read & this worked for months & months
* We change her in front of the TV for the distraction LOL
* We give her a toy that she looks at closely...atm her favourite is one of her dolls bottles... loves that the fluid inside moves when tipped over....
* We give her something to hold on too, like a wipe & she usually cleans her face & says "Nice"
* We give her a massage at the same time with a belly rub down & she loves that.
