    Frequent blood-noses in 21 mnth old - a concern?

DD has now had 4 blood noses in 10 days. First 3 were at night and we've woken up to her pillow and sheets smeared in blood. I think the 'worst' one was perhaps a tablespoon of blood. Today she's just got a slow drip from one nostril.

I've never come across nose-bleeds in a toddler - older children, sure - but is it normal / ok in such a little one?

Do you think I should take her to the doc, or is this just 'one of those things'?

My DF has always been a nose bleeder its triggered by a change in weather and things like that. I don't think there is anything to be worried about but just to make sure maybe see a gp.

there was a similar post about 4 months ago.. (i think that long lol)

my ds used to be a real bad nose bleeder also, weather, gravity, certain movement would set off a water fall..

Its not a severe thing to happen but there is measures that can be taken to stop this from occuring if it becomes regular..
go see the gp and just see what he thinks..
sometimes they will burn capallaries (sp?) which is a cause of most nose bleeds..

Thank you for this thread. I've just put DD 5 year old to bed after a rather disturbing nose bleed. She's has them since she was about 2, she knocked her nose at daycare quite bad and ever since she gets nose bleeds with changes in weather or with dry weather. But tonight was awful. Just one nostril constantly dripping, so much blood! And it only stopped after 10 mins of pretty heavy pressure on her nostril and when I checked to see if it had stopped I pulled out a HUGE blood clot! Scary stuff, but at least it was clotting, doing what it was supposed to. Nose bleeds in kids is scary! I have had her checked out by our gp before and they said it is normal after such a heavy blow that she had at 2. I just wish they would stop, but with the weather getting cooler I am predicting more :S
