Rockmelon, cut it up into 'put straight into the mouth' pieces and in no time it will be gone. That's what I have found anyway.
With apples make apple sauce and either freeze or bottle. We have heated apple sauce on sausages, helps with the taste, and I also use it as a topping for steak. DD2 will eat it by the bowl so it doesn't last very long in this house.
Rockmelon cut up with cookie cutters looks cool, also cut and frozen in juice for icy poles, in jelly for dessert type thing if you are into that! Kids love them on skewers as fruit kebabs here the bestest tho - they also like to freak me out by skewering themselves just for fun.
Apples - baked apples with sultanas and sugar in the hole after coring. Also apple crumble, apple pie, muffins.......yummo!
The only other way I've used rockmelons besides melon balling them (which was the only way I was able to get my DS1 to eat them at first - now he loves them cut into normal slices) is to put them into smoothies - usually with some watermelon, banana and a small amount of apple juice.
Would be interesting to know if there is anything else that can be done with them.
